Summer has drawn to a close (at least in terms of the movies), so I thought, why not reflect on what were the best and worst movies to come out between the first weekend of May and the last weekend of August (that is the official summer movie season). I saw way more good films than bad, so my list will be a top 5 worst (plus a dishonorable mention) and a top 10 best (plus honorable mentions).

Dishonorable Mention: Free State Of Jones

    Top 5 Worst:
    1. The Darkness
    2. Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates
    3. Ben-Hur
    4. The Angry Birds Movie
    5. Alice Through The Looking Glass

Honorable Mentions: Me Before You, Money Monster, The Shallows, The Man Who Knew Infinity, The BFG, Anthropoid, Indignation

    Top 10 Best:
    1. Hell Or High Water
    2. Captain Fantastic
    3. Love & Friendship
    4. Florence Foster Jenkins
    5. Finding Dory
    6. Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping
    7. Café Society
    8. Swiss Army Man
    9. Kubo And The Two Strings
    10. The Nice Guys

What do you think of my lists? Be sure to also provide yours, and remember, you can only use movies that came out between the first weekend of May and the last weekend of August.

    Best: The Nice Guys

Worst: Suicide Squad (in it defense, I didn’t really go see a lot of movies this summer. I bet if I saw something like Ben-Hur, it would be #1)

The Jungle Book actually came out in April, so it’s technically not a summer movie. At least not in the United States. What country are you from?

Oh yes you’re quite right, UK here but forgot it was April! Felt sooner. I guess I’ll say Suicide Squad or Up for Love which had a summer release here.

I know two people who did a 78-minute rant on The Purge: Election Year. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWsy4r9CzJg

I really didn’t like Mike And Dave Need Wedding Dates. I hated the Bad Moms trailers ever since I first saw them. So many people I know hated that movie that I can’t see it now because I won’t be able to go in with an open mind.

I went into Mike and Dave with REALLY low expectations, so I was really surprised how much I enjoyed it. I said to my friends that the cast is what really did it for me, if it was different actors, I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much.

So I actually never saw the trailer for Bad Moms so I went into it with an open mind. It’s definitely my favorite comedy of the year and I described it to others as “if you liked Bridesmaids, you’ll probably like Bad Moms.” I don’t know many people who have seen it, but its doing quite well at the Box Office, so I’m not sure who’s watching it…
