I looked through the forums to see if there was a thread similar to this, and surprisingly there wasn’t. Best Original Song is an Oscar category that inspires a lot of passion in people, and with movies like Zootopia, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, Moana, and La La Land offering many great potential songs for nominations, I thought I’d post my personal favorites. These are the Oscar-winning songs I can listen to over and over again.

    Top 10 Favorite Oscar-Winning Songs:
    1. “Beauty And The Beast”—Beauty And The Beast
    2. “My Heart Will Go On”—Titanic
    3. “A Whole New World”—Aladdin
    4. “Into The West”—The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King
    5. “Skyfall”—Skyfall
    6. “(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life”—Dirty Dancing
    7. “Over The Rainbow”—The Wizard Of Oz
    8. “You’ll Be In My Heart”—Tarzan
    9. “Glory”—Selma
    10. “Take My Breath Away”—Top Gun

    Honorable Mentions:
    “Streets Of Philadelphia”—Philadelphia
    “Let It Go”—Frozen
“Can You Feel The Love Tonight?”—The Lion King
    “Colors Of The Wind”—Pocahontas
    “Under The Sea”—The Little Mermaid
    “Fame”—Fame
“I Just Called To Say I Love You”—The Woman In Red
    “Chim-Chim Cheree”—Mary Poppins
    “White Christmas”—Holiday Inn
“Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head”—Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid

I’ve read some. I agree with some of your analyses; disagree with others. I’ll be very curious to what you think of the 2008 songs, because in my opinion, Peter Gabriel not winning for “Down To Earth” from WALL-E is one of the biggest Oscar mistakes of all time.

I’ll revisit that one sometime over the next couple of weeks but I will say I’m very much fond of the Gabriel track.

Peter Gabriel happens to be my all-time favorite singer, so that’s why his loss stung me so much.

This category is a puzzler for me. Gach. I’m a big fan of many scores, rather than songs.

    Let’s see….
The Way You Look Tonight; Swing Time
    Over The Rainbow; WoOz
    Wish Upon a Star, Pinocchio
Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darlin’; High Noon (may as well give this a mention or I might not get to ten)
Never on Sunday; Never on Sunday
The Windmills of Your Mind; Thomas Crown Affair
For All We Know**; Lovers and Other Strangers
    I’M EASY; Nashville***
    Sooner or Later**; Dick Tracy
    Streets of Philadelphia; Philadelphia
My Heart Will Go On; Titanic
    Things Have Changed***; Wonder Boys
    INTO THE WEST***; TLoTR,TRoTK
Al Otro Lado Del Río; Motor Cycle Diaries

    That’s about it and that’s a stretch.

My list of songs that lost or were not nominated is a very very long one.
