With the last Oscars, one user made a thread to broadcast their outlandish claims about the Oscar race. I cannot remember who it was, but I do remember that it was absolutely hilarious to read.

To that end, I thought I’d set up the thread for people to post their no holds barred statements about this upcoming Oscar season. Who will and who won’t make it in shockingly. Maybe don’t go as personal and call everyone else idiots for disagreeing with you, as the user did last year.

Here is my outrageous claim – to get Don Cheadle, Joaquim De Almeida and Miranda Hart added to the predictions centre, because I believe that Cheadle will be our winner, and De Almeida is looking very good for a nomination (and we’re honestly predicting Michael Keaton to get in, honestly?) and Miranda Hart deserves to be in the predictions centre for Spy.

A win for Brie Larson in Best Actress. Up until recently, I’ve also had Rose Byrne at the top of my predictions for Best Supporting Actress, but it’s looking less likely as the days pass.

Blanchett to get double nomination winning for “Carol”… It is a wild dream, but there I said it Laughing

Also, it would be great if the Academy voters would decide for Carol duo to be both lead and award both of them.

Bryan Cranston is getting nominated for ‘Trumbo’.

‘Carol’ is going to miss BP, but Haynes will be nominated for directing.

Laszlo Nemes will be nominated for directing.

Bradley Cooper will be nominated for ‘Burnt’.

‘Joy’ will score 4 acting nominations.

Not outrageous, but JLaw and Leo will win the lead races.

‘The Martian’ is going to be a big player. It’ll get in for Picture, Director, Actor and Screenplay as well as a ton of techs.

This looks like the year of smaller or off beat studios: Fox 2000, Universal, Netflix. One of them wins the big one.

Carol (the critics darling) will under-perform immensely with Oscar voters. Scoring only Best Costume, Best Score, Best Cinematography, Best Lead Actress and Best Supporting Actress nominations.

Joy will win 4-5 awards: Picture, Director for Russell, Supporting Actor for De Niro, Original Screenplay, and possibly Actress for Lawrence.

The Martian will be a much bigger player than currently expected, with Matt Damon snagging his third acting nod.

Sicario will earn Emily Blunt her first nomination and finally win for cinematographer Roger Deakins.

Complet snub of “The Danish Girl”. Cranston in for “Trumbo”. Joel Edgerton in for “Black Mass”. Either Dicaprio or Hardy left of their field for “Revenant”.
