The 2012 Billboard Music Awards will be held at the MGM in Las Vegas on May 20, 2012 and telecast live on ABC. The awards will recognize music that hit the charts between March 1, 2011 and February 29, 2012. Nominations will be announced about a month or two before the ceremony. Tickets to attend the award show/concert went on sale this morning.

Adele will most likely rule this years’ Billboard Music Awards, seeing as she ruled the charts the whole year. She will probably win Top Artist honors along with Top Hot 100 Song, Top Billboard 200 Album, Top Album Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, and many more. She will probably fall once that night to Katy Perry in the race for the award for Top Hot 100 Artist, simply because Katy Perry had more songs that either topped the charts or came close.

I almost forgot about the Billboard awards. I hope that artists that I like are performing.

What’s the point of this show?  Adele will just clean house.

Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen are hosting. Another Emmy for each?

That Donna tribute was bullshit and disrespectful. They cut to a commercial break while it was still going on.

Katy and Ty both mentioned that she wrote “Wide Awake” for her upcoming documentary/concert film “Katy Perry: Part of Me.” Is she trying to set herself up for an Oscar???

^It won’t matter. Oscar rules state that because the song appears on her current album before it was featured in the movie or the film’s soundtrack, it won’t be eligible. Not that she had a chance either way.

That dancer in the Cee Lo song was the MVP of the song. The Cee Lo song was half-decent. Kelly Clarkson sounded great, but the audio mix sucked that you could barely hear her. I’m sick of Chris Brown lipsyncing.

Everyone else was pretty subpar. Even Carrie Underwood wasn’t that great.

I think Carrie was lip-syncing, that weave didn’t suite her either. Nelly has one hell of a voice, but boy that song didn’t suite her at all.

I thought even if it is on another album, it is still eligible if it was written for the film. Did they change the rule after “Falling Slowly” won?
