Anyone think Capital Cities has a shot in BNA? Their Safe and Sound has been getting a lot of radio play and doing good on the charts

I’m new here but I’m a huge music lover. I’ve been reading through these threads and I’m surprised over the lack of talk about Yeezus. The album received glowing reviews and he’s one of the most respected artists in the industry right now. Sales aren’t great but sales don’t always drive albums to winning AOTY. Also, the Grammys recognize his work but hasn’t received their highest honor. I would like to know people’s thoughts on its chances. For the record my predictions for AOTY right now are Timberlake (Part 2 hurt his chances), Daft Punk, Swift, West, and Bowie.

he couldn’t get in with MBDTF, which was a better reviewed album, and his mouth keeps saying things that can work against him.

sorry for the triple posting, i don’t know how to reply with a multiquoting.

the voting in the first round that will determine Grammy nominees starts on October
    9
, 2013. and it ends on October 30, 2013. so that is the period
during which some eligible songs can highly benefit from, especially if they are late releases (Cee Lo Green’s
nomination for F**k You & Adele’s Chasing Pavements’ nom happened thanks to the exposure during this time).

I’m sure ROYALS by Lorde is the song that will have that kind of exposure this year…

I think Lorde is pretty much a lock for Best New Artist Nomination. I think it will be a battle between her and M&RL for the BNA award.

Is Pure Heroine techinically ineligable this year because it was released the day after the deadline? Or will it’s release in New Zealand a few days before count?

Pure Heroine was released on Sept 27. That’s before the deadline so it is eligible this year.

M&RL isnt winning BNA. Id say its between Lorde and Kacey Musgraves.

Kanye absolutely deserves the nomination, but MBDTF didn’t get the nomination even though it had better sales, insane reviews, and at least a couple of songs that registered. Yeezus is seen as a darker album, and as good as the reviews are, I feel like there are more detractors than MBDTF. Plus Kanye hasn’t really pushed any single from the album, and he’s even more of a polarizing figure than he was for his last album. He’s not going to get an AOTY nom.
