^shoot, forgot about that one. That def could be a VOTY contender considering it was a huge hit and parodied to hell and back.

Never really thought about this before today but I think Wrecking Ball is a contender for video of the year

Katy Perry will hit the show. Prism won’t bring her Grammys but the videos of the songs are so assertive, flashy and remarkable. I wouldn’t be surprised if she wins most in the professional categories.

I think Justin Timberlake’s year is done. He won four awards this year. Perhaps one nomination but not more.

I’m usually bad at predicting categories, but I do have a couple of strong contenders in mind:

    – Bruno Mars is DEFINITELY getting nominated for “Gorilla” — general AND tech nods.  The video’s really well made, and that performance last year certainly could help.

    – If they continue to hand out the Collaboration award, I expect “Can’t Remember to Forget You” and “Say Something” (in fact, CRTFY will probably get other nods this year, though I doubt it’ll win much if anything.)

    – Paramore’s getting nominations, too; they always do.  And I’m sure “Ain’t It Fun” will get nominated, which is fine since it’s a fun video — I just hope they don’t nominate it for Rock Video, though, because it’s not a rock song… but MTV would.

    – Anybody know if Capital Cities is getting play on MTV with “Kangaroo Court”??  That’s a good video that would be worthy of nods, even just tech ones.

I’ll see if I think of more.

Would they actually nominate “Wrecking Ball”? It had huge impact but it will be so old by the time nominations come out in July.

Nope. As long as Miley stays in the headlines MTV will reward her.

Yup.  Miley will get nominated simply because MTV knows that she will bring attention and ratings.

One Direction and Miley Cyrus will be nominated for the Best Pop Video category for “Midnight Memories” and “Wrecking Ball.” “Story of my Life” will be nominated for Video of the Year along with “Wrecking Ball” and probably SOML will be nominated in the technical categories. Eminem, Katy, & Gaga will be nominated as well. Adele or Pharrell might be nominated as well in that category. The Monster is a great video. Roar is an inspirational and colorful video. Gaga had a great video with “Applause”, but it’s likely she won’t be nominated due to her lack of publicity and videos from the ARTPOP era. Pharrell could be nominated with Happy. I have no idea about Adele. She hasn’t released any material. Bruno (Gorilla) & JT (Not a Bad Thing/TKO) will probably just be nominated for Best Male Video. Lorde will be nominated. Beyonce might also be nominated for Video of the Year and a few other categories. Bieber will not be nominated. If he is then it is either Male Video or Most Shareworthy Video. If 1d is nominated for Video Of The Year for Story Of My Life then they’ll win easily. Their fellow nominees would expect them to win if they are nominated.

I don’t think One Direction will get nominated in anyother category than Song of the Summer/Share-Worthy Video for whichever new video they may release in the following months. They don’t seem to be that well liked by the MTV producers.

I think Aloe Blacc is a contender for Male Video with “The Man”. The category is very competitive this year.

Female Video seems less competitive. Everyone is predicting Beyonce, Katy Perry, Miley Curys, Lorde and Lady Gaga. Who else is there? Iggy Azalea was nominated last year for new artist and “Fancy” is the perfect video for MTV to nominate with its tribute to “Clueless”. Maybe Shakira can get in. Is Rihanna eligible for a solo video?

Does anyone think Gaga’s new video will be nominated for Video of the Year? It’s actually been extremely well recieved from multiple publications, and the general public seems to like the visuals and concept. I actually see this video as a return to form for GaGa. I feel as though if will definitely be nominated for Best Female Video, at least.
