Today marks the end of the Grammy eligibility period which means only one thing, it’s longlist time again! This time for the Tyler’s Choice Music Awards for 2015.

My music awards are similar to the Grammys, but for those who don’t know, there’s a couple of differences. Whereas the Grammys have Record/Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Best New Artist as their major categories, I have three separate categories for ROTY: Best Male Vocalist, Best Female Vocalist and Best Duo, Group or Band. Male Vocalist is for any song by a solo male vocalist, same with Female Vocalist only for women, and duo/group/band are for any song that feature more than one vocalist, whether they are a vocal group, a band or when two artists collaborate on a song (like “so-and-so” ft. “such-and-such”). Those take the place of ROTY, while I have a category called “Best Songwriting” which takes the place of SOTY and of course, Best Album and Best New Artist.

Here are the “Big Six” categories as I call them, with a list of 15-20 contenders in each of the categories that I am considering for nominations. I have been changing these around all year, and even up until a few days ago was still making changes! A maximum of three songs from the same artist can compete in every category, so it’s not overrun, and the same song can’t compete in more than one of the primary categories if two different versions exist.

As usual, any questions, concerns or compliments are more than welcome! I love hearing from other people and I hope you like my choices. Let’s begin!

Glad to see “Somebody To Love” by Kacey Musgraves on your list… It’s my favorite from Pageant Material, such a delicate and honest song!

Thanks! I am not fond of country music, but that song was pretty decent!

I am planning, for the first ever, to stream the Tyler’s Choice Music Awards in my own living room on the night of the ceremony. The stream will be on YouTube. Hopefully it doesn’t suck.

This will mean that for the first time ever, you guys will get to see my beautiful face on camera, as I am the host/presenter of every award and (most likely) my parents will be the audience.

The ceremony date is still a bit of a ways off (heck I don’t even have the final nominations yet!), but hopefully I’ll stream the whole ceremony on YouTube. It’ll be a little different than most televised award ceremonies since I am the host and only presenter, and I am probably going to need the aid of multiple computers in order to make it all possible, but if it becomes a success, I could do most of my awards this way from now on.

Interesting to see you consider Nick Jonas a new artist.

Otherwise I’m curious to see who will make your final cut.

He’ll probably not get a final nomination for New Artist.

After looking through various threads on GoldDerby, including the one where NuCat did all the submissions based on the artist, a monumental feat by the way, I have updated some of these lists above!
