http://yearendlists.com/ This site does a pretty good job of compiling these lists every year, so check it out. Usual suspects doing great: Kendrick, Lorde, LCD Soundsystem etc

The Drowned in Sound list(s) are a bit of a laugh. First the editor decides (in his own words) to play ‘dictator’ and posts his list (which he later describes as the ‘Editors Cut’) with Wolf Alice at #1 and Kendrick, Lorde and LCD outside the top 10.

Then it appears there must have been some sort of staff revolt and they post a second ‘Staff Poll’ with Lorde #1, Kendrick #3 and LCD at #4.

Plus there is albumoftheyear.org who are keeping track of a ‘list aggregate’ of which currently has:

    #1. Kendrick Lamar – DAMN.
#2. LCD Soundsystem – American Dream
    #3. Lorde – Melodrama
#4. Father John Misty – Pure Comedy
    #5. St. Vincent – MASSEDUCTION

This list might change quite a lot over the next few weeks.

The Rolling Stone list is quite ridiculous with Harry Styles ahead of Father John Misty and St. Vincent

I’ve always thought that their lists are a bit weird, just look how they put reputation in the top 10.

Here too LCD Soundystem, Kendrick Lamar and Lorde are ahead. I thought DAMN. would have been the most acclaimed album by a mile, but maybe he won’t win so starkly – because it’s surely winning -? Lorde with her only good album needs to loose a lot of positions – although that won’t happen -; beside that, I really hope Slowdive can land a place in a virtual top 10 or 20. What I thought was the best album of the year – I won’t reveal it yet in the vain attempt of sounding mysterious enough – isn’t even in the top 50 of the ranking Gus linked, lol.

First, I meant Alex’s source, not Gus’. I will reveal my prestigious list at the very end of the year – as of now, my AOTY is one of those “honorable mention” at the end of the page. It’s not a particularly unknown album at all, I was expecting it to perform much better in these lists.

I can’t find a single list with honorable mentions

Also, surprised to see Arca so low, if not absent, on these aggregators. I thought he easily delivered one of the best albums of the year and there was also quite a decent acclaim for his latest work.

Kendrick is extending his lead now.

On Metacritic, the top 5 albums seem to be stable, although SZA could still get the #3 spot from LCD Soundsysttem.
    http://www.metacritic.com/feature/best-of-2017-music-critic-top-ten-lists

    1. 95 DAMN. by Kendrick Lamar — 129 points
    2. 91 Melodrama by Lorde — 65.5 points
    3. 86 American Dream by LCD Soundsystem — 53 points
    4. 86 CTRL by SZA — 51.5 points
    5. 88 MASSEDUCTION by St. Vincent — 37.5 points

On albumoftheyear.org there is just 4 points between CTRL and Melodrama in 2nd and 3rd place.
    http://www.albumoftheyear.org/list/summary/2017/

    1. Kendrick Lamar – DAMN. — 456 points
    2. SZA – CTRL — 270 points
    3. Lorde – Melodrama — 266 points
    4. LCD Soundsystem – American Dream — 216 points
    5. St. Vincent – MASSEDUCTION — 186 points

There are 88 lists counted, compared with 114 last year, so quite a number could be added over the next few days and weeks.

There is also a song list on albumoftheyear.org
    http://www.albumoftheyear.org/songs/best/2017/

    1. Cardi B – Bodak Yellow — 144
    2. Kendrick Lamar – HUMBLE. — 137
    3. Lil Uzi Vert – XO Tour Llif3 — 93
    4. Kendrick Lamar – DNA. — 92
    5. Lorde – Green Light — 85
    6. Charli XCX – Boys — 71
    7. Future – Mask Off — 65
    8. Selena Gomez – Bad Liar — 61
