Now with nominations for the 2017 awards I think it’s time to start discussing next years Grammys. We’re 3 months into the eligibility period.
What are your thoughts on the music that is eligible for the 2018 Awards and who do you think could get nominated?January 3, 2017 at 12:17 am #1201978690
I really, really, really hope that A Tribe Called Quest’s last masterpiece is recognized somewhere.January 3, 2017 at 4:27 am #1201978753

I’m not sure whether to place John Legend in Pop or not. It’s very poppy but he most likely will gun for UC.January 3, 2017 at 4:33 am #1201978755
pop vocal album
6 grammy faves who have released albums/will be releasing albums before eligibility period:

pop vocal album is gonna be STACKED!January 3, 2017 at 4:35 am #1201978756
I think that John and Alicia will go for the RnB categories. They both were nominated for Best RnB Album in 2014 and Alicia won. Urban Contemporary will most likely go to The Weeknd.
If Kendrick doesn’t release before October, J. Cole may win his first Grammy too. I don’t think that Nicki Minaj will be a huge competition for him.
Lorde will also pick up several awards if her sophomore is successful.January 3, 2017 at 4:37 am #1201978758
Im waiting on Lorde, Katy, Haim and Taylor’s releases to know how competitive Pop Vocal will be.January 3, 2017 at 11:55 am #1201978905
I’m definitely rooting for The Weeknd and Starboy album, it’s a great record with those electronic touches that are super cool.
I also love Lady Gaga’s Million Reason, it’s a shame that it doesn’t get much love on the charts, because it’s so SOTY material, but i think in Pop Solo could be in.
Bruno could repeat on ROTY with 24k MagicJanuary 3, 2017 at 12:18 pm #1201978913
The most interesting thing for me is that unlike other years at this point we already had a big frontrunner for Album Of The Year: 25 by Adele, 1989 by Taylor Swift, BEYONCÉ by Beyoncé, Red by Taylor Swift… and this year I don’t see any.January 3, 2017 at 12:53 pm #1201978942
FYC (if they choose to release these songs as singles)
Niall Horan, “This Town”
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, ft. Ed Sheeran, “Growing Up”January 3, 2017 at 1:21 pm #1201978965
Yeah but it was released on his newest album so wouldn’t it still count?January 3, 2017 at 1:36 pm #1201978974
Could, but I think that then it would have to do well in charts and sales to get some momentum.January 3, 2017 at 3:32 pm #1201979057
Honey, Lady Gaga won’t be anywhere near the 2018 Grammy Awards.
