Call me crazy, but I can see A Tribe Called Quest upsetting Kendrick for Best Rap Album, if both get nominated for Album of The Year.August 12, 2017 at 10:21 am #1202183157
If submitted and eligible, I would think that the 39 song Spotify digital release of the One Love Manchester concert would be a serious contender for an AOTY nomination. Though decades ago, other live concert recordings have been nominated for AOTY. The opportunity to make a political statement with such recognition would appear to be irresistible.
It would be awesome, I had not thought of thatAugust 12, 2017 at 10:30 am #1202183170
Initially, I thought about the possibility of A Tribe Called Quest upsetting in Best Rap Album. However, Kendrick Lamar has way too much going on for him to lose that category.August 12, 2017 at 10:52 am #1202183207
Is Alessia Cara still eligible for BNA?August 12, 2017 at 11:11 am #1202183229
I think Ctrl by SZA can get a nomination for AOTYAugust 12, 2017 at 11:25 am #1202183235
Get real! SZA’s Ctrl is NOT getting an AOTY nomination.August 12, 2017 at 12:05 pm #1202183265
If Kesha doesnt win best song for Praying there is something wrong. I cried it left me with freaking chills. Her album is an utter masterpiece. This is the same Kesha from years back i am shocked. The song Praying is so riveting.August 12, 2017 at 2:21 pm #1202183309

I think Kesha surprised us all with ‘Praying’ but it didn’t get high on the charts. Reached number 25 and then fell. SOTY no way, but if you consider the history behind ‘Praying’, which is truly very sad, who knows about a pop solo nom.August 12, 2017 at 2:48 pm #1202183317
I love SZA but I don’t think she can get into AOTY tbh. Although if her songs keep gaining and the album holds steady on the charts it’s a possibilty. I had a discussion with someone and she was compared to Frank (Channel Orange era) in terms of critical acclaim getting general field nods.August 12, 2017 at 2:54 pm #1202183322

I think she would be more comparable to Kendrick Lamar as the unlikely urban debut nominee for AOTY. I don’t think she will get in either, but CTRL and SZA have gotten a lot of buzz. She’s at least a lock for a BNA nomination.
Vic Mensa should still be eligible for BNA. I think he could be a nominee as well.August 12, 2017 at 4:44 pm #1202183415
Honey, there is no way in hell Kesha is getting a Grammy nomination. “Praying” is rather forgettable and performed abysmally on the charts.August 12, 2017 at 5:32 pm #1202183463
Song of the Year: “Shape of You” – Ed Sheeran (hope it’s Castle On a Hill but it won’t be)

Coincidentally, these could be the same five nominated for AOTYAugust 12, 2017 at 6:33 pm #1202183480
Song of The Year is more complicated to predict than Record of The Year.
