I wouldn’t be surprised if 1-800 is nominated for SOTY. It’s a perfect “social message” filler. And it’s due time that Alessia Cara got a SOTY nom since she was snubbed for Here.

I posted earlier I also wouldn’t be surprise to see 1-800 win “Best Rap Sung” over Kendrick Lamar.

I agree. The single is peaking at the right time. I see it getting into Song of the Year, Rap Song and Rap/Sung Collaboration… potentially challenging Kendrick for the later two categories. It might even help Logic to score a Rap Album nomination.

Kenny does still have Rap Performance and Rap Album Grammys locked up (and probably Short-Form Music Video too). Might not sweep the Rap Field this year though.

Get Real! Kendrick Lamar is NOT losing Best Rap/Sung Performance and Best Rap Song.

If Kendrick is nominated across the board, he will easily win every category in the rap field.

Yeah, “1-800” is blowing up, but a Kendrick/Rihanna pairing is bigger recognition than a Logic/Khalid/Alessia Cara one, easily.

Kendrick was never a lock to win Rap/Sung anyway, just like he wasn’t a lock when he won for “These Walls.”

And “Humble” is so not losing Rap Song. Stop the madness.

I think or ‘Despacito’ get a nom for both ROTY and best pop duo or it gets completely snubbed. There’s no sense to nominate the song just in pop duo because ‘Despacito’ IS a record of the year, it’s undeniable.

Kendrick and Rihanna have zero competition in Rap/Sung Performance. “Loyalty” was not a SMASH on the level of “Love the Way You Lie” or “The Monster” but it doesn’t matter. Kendrick is on fire and Rihanna has won that category more than any other female singer. Their names alone will secure the win.

    PREDICTION:

    Best Rap/Sung Performance
DJ Khaled (feat. Beyonce & JAY-Z) – “Shining”
    Drake – “Fake Love”
Kendrick Lamar (feat. Rihanna) – “Loyalty”
Logic (feat. Alessia Cara & Khalid) – “1-800-273-8255”
French Montana (feat. Swae Lee) – “Unforgettable”

I wouldn’t say that they don’t have competition. I think “I’m The One” will be placed in Best Rap/Sung Performance, so that poses competition.

Like I said, it depends on whether or not the committee goes crazy for Kendrick Lamar, which looks likely to be the case. He will definitely lead the nominations.

Here’s what I predict for nominations:
Album of the Year – DAMN.
Record of the Year – “Humble.”
Song of the Year – “Humble.”
    Best Rap Album – DAMN.
    Best Rap Song – “Humble.”
Best Rap/Sung – “Loyalty.” feat. Rihanna
    Best Rap Performance – “Humble.”
    Best Music Video – “Humble.”

Outside nominations (depending what is submitted):
    Best Pop Duo/Group – “Don’t Wanna Know” w/Maroon 5
Best R&B Performance – “Doves in the Wind” w/SZA
Best R&B Song – “Doves in the Wind” w/SZA

That’s 8-11 nominations Kendrick Lamar will possibly get.

This is Kendrick’s most commercial era, and he has a lot of goodwill going for him.

“I’m the One” could go Pop. It features Justin Bieber after all. That wouldn’t be surprising.

“Shining” feels more like a Rap/Sung contender. Beyonce & JAY-Z are favorites in that category.

“Wild Thoughts” is probably going to the R&B Field.

I was thinking “wild thoughts” could go there. His submissions will be interesting

“I’m the One” has way too many rappers vs. one pop singer on it to be placed in Pop. If Khaled wants to maximize on nominations, he should stick with his hits – “I’m the One” in Rap and “Wild Thoughts” in Pop OR R&B. He should probably just stick with R&B and Rap, as his songs may be too urban for Pop.

I don’t see him pulling a win anyway.

Common just became the first rapper to ever win a Grammy, Emmy and Oscar!

I can totally see his album “Black America again” in Rap Album

If “I’m the One” had featured Chris Brown or Usher I’d be more confident that it would be submitted to the Rap/Sung category. However, it’s undeniably a Pop song. Especially that hook.

This is also the same committee that placed “Blurred Lines” and “Fancy” in Pop. Arguably those songs could have been nominated in the R&B/Rap Field respectively. But because of the popularity of each they categorized them as Pop.

“Wild Thoughts” will more than likely go R&B. That record feels more Urban leaning than “I’m the One”.”Shining” features Beyonce & JAY-Z. Two GRAMMY favorites. I don’t see them not submitting that song.
