    1971: Carole King-Tapestry
1976: Stevie Wonder-Songs in the Key of Life
    1983: Michael Jackson-Thriller
    1987: U2-The Joshua Tree
    1988: George Michael-Faith
    1989: Bonnie Raitt-Nick of Time
    1991: Natalie Cole-Unforgettable
1995: Alanis Morissette-Jagged Little Pill (this was a great category with Mariah can’t believe she won nothing for Daydream, Joan Osborne, Pearl Jam, Michael)
1998: Lauryn Hill-The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill (this was a great category filled with all women, Madonna, Shania, Sheryl, Shirley Manson of Garbage)
1999: Santana-Supernatural (I loved TLC’s Fanmail, however Santana is a legend and had a great album as well)
    2003: Outkast-Speakerboxx/The Love Below
2005: U2-How to Dismantle (fine album, however, I would have loved to seen Mariah win for “Mimi” considering her comeback, furthermore, U2 deserved to win for Achtung Baby and All That You Can’t Leave Behind)
2006: Dixie Chicks-Taking the Long Way (would have liked Timberlake to win, and it remains his best album in my opinion, however, the ladies were very deserving)
    2011: Adele-21
    2013: Daft Punk-Random Access Memories
    2014: Beck-Morning Phase

Judy at Carnegie Hall was a pretty astounding winner of Album of the Year, mainly due to it not being a masterpiece of sound production (was a live recording) or song writing (was all covers) etc. It won for one reason and one reason only – the raw, natural talents of Judy Garland.

When they get it right they get it so obviously right. When they miss, holy Christ on a crutch do they ever miss!
