Just a thread to discuss acts that you believe should be more relevant than they are.

The first act I believe should be mentioned right along with Adele is American Idol 2ed runner up Haley Reinhart (who was one of the 1st artist to cover “Rolling In The Deep”). I’ve kept track of her career since she was IMO wrongly eliminated in 3rd place in favor of Scotty and Lauren in 2011. She was signed to Interscope after her run on AI and released her Debut “Listen Up” commercially it never took off but the album had a few very good tracks “Undone” in particular. Do your self a favor and give her a shot listen to her Jazz covers or “Seven Nation Army”, “Lovefool” and especially “Creep”

Also if you’ve watched the gum commercial that’s been making headlines Haleys cover of Elvis’s “Can’t Help Falling In Love” is one of the major reason it’s getting so much coverage. Fingers crossed it helps her finally breakthrough.

The Walin’ Jennys. A low-key Canadian folk trio isn’t ever really going to set the Billboard charts on fire, but they’re the kinds of group who deserve to be in the mix in Americana and country categories. Their last album “Bright Morning Stars” came out in 2011. I hope we get more from them in the near future.

    Khia
She writes, produces, raps, and sings her own songs. That’s rare for any artist let alone a female rapper.

Its still baffling to me that Anberlin never hit it really big like I thought they would. Their heyday was the post-grunge of the mid 2000s, with heavy 90’s rock influences.

Some people claim they were christian rock, but they weren’t. Christian rock is really lame, I would consider them alt-rock. They did recently break up, but now you can check out their incredible music.

    Key songs:
    The Feel Good Drag
    Unwinding Cable Car
    Adelaide
    Alexithmya

    Key Album:
    Cities – My favorite album.

“Your Type” is a fantastic pop song from Carly Rae Jepson’s album “Emotion”. Do yourself a favor and give it a try, the music video was just released.

It upsets me when an alternative band can make a big splash on the mainstream radio stations but then never gain that same attention again. Foster the People feel like they are going that way which is a real shame because they are a fantastic band. It felt like their last album wasn’t even given the time of day by most.

I’m hoping George Ezra doesn’t find himself in that situation. I hope more of his singles get more popular hopefully if (and honestly when) he gets some Grammy love for Best New Artist

Alabama Shakes seems like they are starting to rise in attention with Sound and Color this year.

LP is an awesome vocalist. Check out her song “Tokyo Sunrise”. It will blow you away. She also writes songs like “Cheers” by Rihanna

Bleachers are awesome (though I hope fun. brings out some new music soon)

The Deafening is an awesome rock band led by Lena Hall from the Broadway Revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Her vocals are out of this world.

People would still be talking about Foster the People if their second album, Supermodel, was on-par with their debut album. But it sadly wasn’t.
