I would love for Ciara to win this, because her sexy dance in that video is damn hot. But realistically, it will probably be either Chris Brown or J. Lo.

This was a weak year for choreography in music videos. P!nk definitely should’ve been nominated (and won) for “Try”.

THIS.  MTV really needs to start thinking out of the box when it comes to this category.  There always used to be some sort of left-field nominee that showed some sort of inventive or unexpected use of choreography… now it’s just Bruno Mars.  Matt & Kim’s “It’s Alright” would’ve been an AMAZING nominee this year, too; the work Tanisha Scott did for that video was excellent.

Anyway, back to the award at hand.  I’ve always said that J.Lo’s “always the bridesmaid” in the Choreography race, and I get the feeling it’ll be the same story this year.  Chris Brown’s the frontrunner right now, but very few artists have repeated in this category, and only one did it back-to-back (En Vogue), so watch out for a Ciara dark-horse win.

(Or they should just give it to Bruno Mars…  If Prince could win in 1986 for “Raspberry Beret,” Bruno more than deserves it,)

Bruno Mars isn’t Prince, and Treasure isn’t Raspberry Beret.

^You’re right.  In terms of choreography, Treasure >>>>>>>  Raspberry Beret.

What’s the choreo in RB??  The dancers doing three forward shimmies and a clap the whole damn time, plus a single scene of a breakdancer (doing moves that I’d bet my bottom dollar weren’t choreographed by Prince)?  At least the routine in Treasure actually had some variety…

I just noticed one thing: even though it isn’t dancing, We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together is very tightly choreographed. I wonder if they didn’t submit it or if it was snubbed. I remember that in the 90’s they nominated Cibo Matto’s “Sugar Water” even though it wasn’t a dance video.

“Treasure” is the biggest and most recent hit in this category so a win for Bruno Mars wouldn’t be out the question. Plus, he’s not winning VOTY, Male, or Pop so this would be compensation.

I am convinced Bruno Mars will win.  He was the choreographer of the video.  And the only nominee in this category with multiple nominations this year.

There aren’t a lot of things I’m rooting for this year but I’m definitely rooting for “Treasure” in this category. Bruno Mars deserves to win.

I’m beginning to really think Bruno will take this one, too.  But I wouldn’t count out Ciara or even J.Lo.  Last year they made it up to Chris Brown for all the snubs, and they may do it again with either lady (this is Ci’s third nomination and J.Lo’s fifth),

I’m also surprised that Bruno is the only nominee in this category, considering it’s usually the most mainstream of all the tech awards.  However, the panel thought “thatPOWER” deserved this more than P!nk’s “Try” or either of JT’s eligible videos, so I’m not that surprised that the nominees are a bit messy…

Pink ownes them all. What a mess. Bruno Mars FTW, I guess. I’d support Jennifer Lopez to finally take it but choreography in “Live It Up” is certainly below her abbilities.
