I know this category does not get talked about often. I am curious about preditctions for Best Music Video and Best Music Film.

I think Robin Thicke has a good shot at winning here. I’m not gonna even attempt to predict the nominees since you never know what kind of curve ball they’ll throw.

I don’t think Robin Thicke will even be nominated, although he stands a good chance. It’s a tough category to crack, but I’ll go with wild guesses:

    “Mirrors”
    “Reflektor”
    “Q.U.E.E.N.”
“Higher” (Just Blaze, Baauer & Jay Z – if submitted)
    “Sacrilege”

    Other possibilities:
“Hot Knife” (Fiona Apple, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson)
“The Stars (Are Out Tonight)” (David Bowie)
“Hold On. We’re Going Home”/”Started From The Bottom”
    “Black Skinhead”
“My God Is The Sun”/”I Appear Missing” (Queens Of The Stone Age)
    “Diane Young” (Vampire Weekend)
    “Can’t Hold Us”
    “Blurred Lines”
    “Safe & Sound”
    “Lose Yourself To Dance”

^ This category very rarely goes full on-mainstream artists. So I doubt that line-up happens. Gaga, even though a previous winner, has no chance I think. She got snubbed for Born This Way, a much bigger hit and more epic video (Weird Al Yankovich got the nom instead for his parody of her video). So I doubt Applause is a factor here.

This category usually has many under the radar contenders.

EDIT: Here’s a list of previous nominees and winners: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grammy_Award_for_Best_Music_Video

My bets are Bowie, Apple, Timberlake, Arcade Fire and a surprise nominee

I think Robin has a chance at being nominated. This field is always a crapshoot. With the exception of 2010, it’s rarely a lineup of hit videos.

If Macklemore submitted “Can’t Hold Us,” I would not be surprised at a nomination for them. Janelle feels like she could be a nominee here. “Mirrors,” as overrated as it is, stands a good chance at a nomination. The rest will come from alternative music acts.

I don’t think “Blurred Lines” stands any chance at all… Not because it was a ‘hit’ video but because they nominate videos with visuals, storylines, photography, etc… and Blurred Lines doesn’t have anything of that

The only hit video with a chance is Can’t Hold Us

    These are my predictions:

Mirrors, Q.U.E.E.N., The Stars (Are Out Tonight), Can’t Hold Us and something from an alternative act

In recent news, I read more of the submissions here and it mentioned Pink submitted Just Give Me a Reason to Music Video. I was hoping she submitted Try there instead

    Any thoughts?
