That poster may find some of Kelly Clarkson’s wins questionable since she beat ROTY and AOTY nominee Gwen Stefani and AOTY nominees fun..

    Ok but: Adele.

That year the Pop categories were kinda up in the air. This year isn’t the same. It’s a really faulty comparison. Also, again, the Stronger/Set Fire to the Rain (Live from Albert Hall) situation.

Exactly, that’s what “that poster” meant. I do like Kelly a lot, but man, she manages to win over actual GF contenders and winners, who didn’t think LAMB was the favorite during her first win, or Some Nights during her second win (they even got SOTY). Plus Stronger is not a very good album, at least Breakaway had some huge hits in it. Her Female Pop win is fine though, that was very much deserved.

My point is, this girl has won before over heavy contenders, and while Adele is Adele, and she sold and sold albums, and Hello stayed and stayed and ruled and ruled the charts, I don’t feel the urgency, the phenomenom, the desperation, the crazyness of Rolling in the Deep and 21. And she’s also to blame since she let this album die a long time ago. Of course this might not apply to this specific category, but I can imagine people going “meh” from this album since it’s been so so long since it was a thing. I’ll happily eat my words, of course she’ll win everything, but she’s definitely not a sure thing like she was with 21 when she even won for that shitty video of her on a chair.

You can eat your words right now. You are overthinking this wayy too much. Since when did a non chart topping song win Best Pop Solo?

2012: Someone Like You (#1 for 5 weeks)
2013: Set Fire To The Rain (#1 for 3 weeks)
    2014: Royals (#1 for 9 weeks)
    2015: Happy (#1 for 10 weeks)
2016: Thinking Out Loud (#2 for 7-8 weeks behind the likely #1 song of the decade)

It’s never happened. Thinking Out Loud was basically a number one song (number two for 7-8 weeks). Pop solo very much helps to reflect the year in music by awarding one of the most commercially successful pop songs of that year. Piece By Piece was in the top 10 for a single week.

Yea, I would be shocked if Adele lost this. She’s more vulnerable elsewhere

Yes the Grammys are exactly the same as it was 8 years ago. Well done.

I know the odds and past statistics are in Adele’s favor, but c’mon, I think we all can agree that Kelly deserves to have more than 3 grammys to her name with the voice she has (I’m not saying Adele doesn’t have a great voice or doesn’t deserve more grammys.) We keep saying “Hello” is a safe choice but how is “Piece by Piece (Idol Version)” a risky choice for grammy voters? If I was in the voting committee and saw “Piece by Piece (Idol Version)” on the grammy ballot, I would see it as the performance that touched people, made people cry (including guys), not how well it did on the charts. There wouldn’t be any backlash to the grammys if kelly won.

The whole idea that 25 came and went is such an Internet myth. The Billboard year-end came out today, and Adele has the #1 album of the year and is the top artist of the year, which proves that her popularity extended throughout the year. And if there was really fatigue, she wouldn’t have been nominated for three of the major categories and her usual pop categories. Stop the lies.

Preach! Even though Adele keeps a low profile, 25 stayed on the charts and maintained momentum throughout the entire year.

While Kelly Clarkson may be able to beat fun. and Gwen Stefani, she could never beat a powerhouse like Adele.

Yeah preparing to cry (happy tears) when Kelly wins this. Lol kidding, we’re not desperate. We ALL know Adele is taking this. OP opens thread and we just answer.

I wouldn’t care if kelly took the award, but it’s almost impossible beat Adele in this category. She is the definition of “Vocal Performance”.

Grammy always try to conect sucess to quality, and Hello is the right choice.

If there is a category about “best pop song”, like happend in country and R&B section, probably Katy, Ariana, Justin, and others artist, would be a better chance
