This year’s Brit Awards may be over, but the eligibility period for next year’s has already been open for two full months.

This year, I’ve decided to compose a list of the eligible acts for next years awards, so they are easier to see who is in the running for nods.

The eligibility criteria for a nomination is that an artist releases a studio album which lands in the UK Top 40 Album Charts within 2016.

Today, more acts will be added to the list, as the official chart placements are revealed. The likes of The 1975 (predicted to be Number 1 with new album I Like It When You Sleep, For You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It).

Richard & Adam, Anthrax, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Magnum, Steve Mason, Bonnie Raitt, Raleigh Ritchie and DMA were also looking good for a Top 40 finish during the midweek charts on Monday.

Don’t forget that Zayn will be eligible for next year’s Brits as well.

He should be, but his album has yet to be released and have a chart position. As such, I can’t write his name on the list. Only adding acts once they officially chart.

The first names have been unveiled for the BRIT Awards 2017 Nominations Show, a brand new televised broadcast on ITV.

Olly Murs leads the the newly-confirmed names, with Christine and the Queens and Craig David also announced. More names will be revealed in the run-up to the event, which takes place on Saturday 14 January.

ITV will be broadcasting the event live from a primetime evening slot, and Emma Willis has been confirmed as host for the proceedings.

Michael Buble is currently scheduled to host the awards ceremony itself, though with his recent news, it is not yet known whether this will remain the case.

The 6 artist categories have been updated with all the acts eligible for them (eligibility being that the artist has a Top 40 studio album in the U.K. Charts for the calendar year).

Yeah I can’t see Dodie getting in.

I’m thinking British Solo Female Artist will look something like:
    Emeli Sande
    Kate Tempest
    Lapsley
    Laura Mvula
    PJ Harvey
