“His last album bombed”, “He reached his peak”, “His tour didn’t sell out”..those are some of the excuses many have used to discredit Usher’s current career. But he’s currently #1 on Rhythmic radio with “I Don’t Mind”. Is Usher getting the last laugh? Discuss.

I really like I Dont Mind, and Im glad its successful. But his other singles didnt do so well, so I think he got lucky with this song.

If his album bombs, then I doubt he gets the last laugh. He kept throwing out singles, so of course one would stick. However, “I Don’t Mind” will not put him back into the mega-pop stratosphere.

I mean if Gaga hit #1 on Dance I wouldn’t be impressed. If he hit #1 on all format radio then that’s impressive.

Usher has sold millions of albums, has nine number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and has won eight Grammy Awards.  Usher will always have the last laugh.

Wait.  Are we being serious right now?  “I Don’t Mind” is, lyrically, one of the worst songs I’ve heard in a long time.

Does this apply to other artists who have had flops, yet have in their prime achieved astronomical success (Mariah, Gaga, etc..) that you constantly like to belittle and say they should “give it up” or only Usher because you stan for him?

Usher is doing just fine. Looking 4 Myself was the best album he’s ever done. I hope he continues to reach that high level, even when the material isn’t super radio-friendly. Good Kisser was amazing. It topped my top 10 Songs of 2014: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9DJDmSYbN4
