As a spin off of previous topics relating to album of the year, I’m curious to know your favorite record of the year lineups of the past 25 years.

2013 – I loved all the songs excluding Thinking bout you. Good winner also.

2006 was the best line-up. The song I liked the least won (Green Day, “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”), but I still like that one, and the rest of the line-up was really great (“Hollaback Girl”, “Feel Good Inc.”, “Gold Digger” and “We Belong Together”).

There’s no line-up I love completely (there always seems to be at least one song I don’t like in the group), but to other ones that come close are 2001 (where the only one I didn’t like was the winner, U2) and 2004 (where the only song I don’t like is Where Is The Love). Those years’ nominees I do like:

2001: “Say My Name”, “Music”, “I Try”, “Bye Bye Bye”

2004: “Hey Ya!”, “Crazy In Love”, “Clocks” (winner), “Lose Yourself”

Oh, and Thinkin’ Bout You was easily the best nominee this year, by far.

I wanted to go far back to not come here and vote exclusively for recent nominees, but there wasn’t really nothing too great, songs I didn’t know, songs I didn’t remember and so on…

    I would say
2006 (Boulevard, We Belong Together, Feel Good Inc, Hollaback, Gold Digger)

2007 (Not Ready to Make Nice, Be Without You, Crazy, You’re Beautiful, Put Your Records On)

2005 (Clocks, Crazy in Love, Where is the Love, Lose Yourself, Hey Ya)

1999 (My Heart Will Go On, Iris, Boy is Mine, Ray of Light, You’re Still the One): mainly because this is a lineup that couldn’t be more representative of a year, or end of a decade. Sometimes they choose forgettable tracks, but this is sooooo 1998-1999.

I also really like 2008, with Umbrella, Rehab and What Goes Around Comes Around. I don’t care for Irreplaceable and The Pretender though.
