Was wondering if anyone had any predictions for the Grammy nominations in the country field? Will any cross over into the 4 big awards?

I think Maren Morris is the most likely artist to cross over into the big 4 (most probably in Best New Artist)

This past eligible cycle didn’t have any huge commercial breakthrough but saw a lot of critically acclaimed work that I feel could get nominations despite not being big sellers. I can definitely see people like Maren, as well as Sturgill Simpson, Brandy Clark, Loretta Lynn, Brothers Osbourne, Joey + Rory, (…) getting nominations along with more commercially successful work from the likes of Dierks Bentley, Eric Church, Keith Urban e Carrie Underwood.

I personally would love to see Miranda Lambert’s song “Vice” in Best Country Song and Solo Performance. It’s my favorite this year!

For the General Field, I am currently predicting Maren Morris in BNA and “Die a Happy Man” in SOTY.

Really hoping for a Sturgill Simpson breakthrough in AOTY as well, although he’ll likely be left on the outside.

i’m only rooting for Miranda’s “Vice”, Sturgill, Maren Morris & a little bit less for Carrie Underwood this year.

“Vice” is a really great song, it sounds soo anthemic to me. i’m actually not surprised it didn’t peak higher on Billboard’s country airplay chart, as only songs about drinking, fishing, driving a truck & other shit usually reach numer one there.

i wonder who will be this year’s out of nowhere nominees like Lee Ann Womack or Brandy Clark last year.

Kenny Chesney and Pinks “Setting the World on Fire” has also been submitted into best country song and duo/group. The submissions released don’t include all submissions just a select few. Though I saw the submissions for setting the world on fire under Pinks name.

I think Maren Morris has the potential to upset everybody in the Country categories (even over my fave Carrie). She’s easily getting nods for Country Solo and Country Song for “My Church”. An Country album nod is not out of the question too. Her performance and wins at the CMA Awards this week could echo the same kind of breakthrough Chris Stapleton had.
I think she will also break into the General category for Best New Artist and is a dark hors e in the Song of the Year category for “My Church” as well.

From the submissions thread, the artists confirmed as entering Best New Artist are:
    Kelsea Ballerini
    Cam
    Maren Morris
    Old Dominion
    Margo Price
    Thomas Rhett

I actually think Maren Morris will be the only one to get in, I’m hoping for three but that is super unlikely. If I were to guess the ikelihood of getting in it would be (1-most likely, 6-least likely):
    1) Maren Morris
    2) Cam
    3) Thomas Rhett
    4) Kelsea Ballerini
    5) Margo Price
    6) Old Dominion
