Lady Gaga is the only female artist to be nominated in the Pop, Dance and Jazz categories. She also is the first female (and artist i think) since Mariah Carey to be nominated 3 years in a row for Album Of The Year and also lose those 3 times.

More about Janet, in 1990 she became the first woman to be nominated for Producer of the Year, Non-Classical. Followed by Mariah Carey in 1992, Paula Cole in 1998 and Sheryl Crow and Lauryn Hill in 1999.

Speaking of Mariah, she became the youngest artist to be nominated in all four general field categories in 1991 at the age of 20.

Whitney Houston won Album of the Year for The Bodyguard and was nominated for Waiting To Exhale for Album of the year.

That was credited as Various Artist not Whitney Houston. The same could be said for Nora Jones, Lauren Hill and Allison Krauss but only Bonnie, Barbra and Taylor have won then had their next album nominated. The facts are that Nora Jones has won Album of the Year 4 times but only one Nora Jones album won AotY.
