Quite upset that Kacey Musgraves only got 1 nom (Best Country Album).. I was expecting at least 2 more (Country Duo and Country Song). At least Ashley Monroe got in with The Blade!

Not that I was endorsing it, but I’m quite surprise Meghan Trainor isn’t featured more in the pop categories… her only nomination in BNA

Kelly Clarkson did not deserve her noms! I love her but her latest music was bad.

Elle King is nominated for Best Rock Performance and Best Rock song for Ex’s and Oh’s, that’s great.

First things that stood out to me were no Meghan Trainor in Pop and Kelly Clarkson getting 2 nominations

Who is Ellie Goulding? Kehlani? Lianne La Havas?

Big Sean should’ve gotten Drake or Nicki’s spot in Best Rap Album.

Happy about Kendrick leading with 11, The Weeknd getting into the general field, Girl Crush getting into SOTY, Back to Back getting into rap and Björk getting into alternative.

Happy that Elle got nominations but the rock category keeps getting watered down imo.

    For my predictions:

    4/5 for AOTY
    4/5 for ROTY
    3/5 for SOTY
    4/5 for BNA

Probably the best I ever did for the General Field

The general field nominees were fairly predictable. The pleasant surprise was D’Angelo for ROTY. I guess it was to make up for the fact that they weren’t going to nominated his album for AOTY. It’s his first General field nomination, so congrats!

I knew “Can’t Feel My Face” wouldn’t be a SOTY nominee. It’s just the chorus and the first verse repeated. But seven nominations aren’t too shabby.

I do think Alabama Shakes are in the lead thanks to the Engineered Album nomination. Chris Stapleton has his support from country. However, I still feel that Kendrick Lamar can win this. The amount of year-end lists that have called To Pimp a Butterfly “the #1 album of the year” is very telling. Plus, I think the Grammys could see that they have already awarded a rock/alternative album just last year and that Hip Hop is overdue for another AOTY. I also think the rap voters will come out harder than they ever had this year.

    K. Dot for the win!
