I can’t contain my love for Grimes’s new album “Art Angels”. I have no place to to talk about how good this album is and there’s no thread for her so I thought I’d make one.

My favorite tracks are California, Kill V. Maim, Flesh Without Blood (My Favorite Song of the Year), Easily and Venus Fly.

She need to get some love for this album. It’s a freaking masterpiece.

Time Magazine agrees with me! They just named “Flesh Without Blood” the best song of 2015! Topping their year end list over Drake, The Weeknd and Adele!

I struggle so badly even trying to choose a favorite song from this album; the entire thing is fantastic.  I’ve got it down to Realiti, Flesh Without Blood, Kill v. Maim, Butterfly, and California, but all five of those are perfect pop songs.

Art Angels gets my vote for Album of the Year (narrowly over Carrie & Lowell).

    I love this album!!

My faves are “Kill V Maim”, “Venus Fly”, “Flesh Without Blood”, “Butterfly”, REALiti”, and “Pin”. I love the whole thing though, it’s wonderful. Definitetly making my Top 10 list of best albums of the year.

Incredible album, and yet still somehow underrated —  I was hoping it would show up on in the top 10  of more end of year lists.

Albumoftheyear aggregates all the material year-end lists and has it at #7 in the aggregate list so far, which I agree seems low.  I thought top “Album of the Year” picks would be Kendrick, Sufjan, or Grimes across the board, but the list currently looks as follows:

    1. Kendrick Lamar
    2. Sufjan Stevens
    3. Courtney Barnett
    4. Jamie xx
    5. Tame Impala
    6. Father John Misty
    7. Grimes
    8. Sleater-Kinney
    9. Julia Holter
    10. Bjork
    11. Vince Staples
    12. Carly Rae Jepsen

This is actually a really fantastic list, I’m impressed with how everyone I would expect to be in the top 10 actually made it. Really upset that Sufjan couldn’t make it into AOTY nominees but lists like this make me happy.

ANYWAYS, back to Grimes — I’m dying for there to be a video for Venus Fly if only to see Claire and Janelle being total badasses together. Imagining a live performance of the song makes me even more giddy.

I hated, HATED Visions, and almost didn’t even listen to Art Angels. Thank goodness I gave this a shot, because it’s quite good. It’s easily in my top twenty or so albums of the year. “REALiti,” “SCREAM,” and “Flesh Without Blood” are among my favorite tracks of the year from anyone. This is just terrific from top to bottom.

I think it’s being considered “underrated” because it was released so late in the year, and not much press was built around it. She hasn’t really promoted it heavily like other pop acts.

I’m sure the momentum will grow over time.
