We gotta liven up this joint! We need YOU to help post provocative topics to encourage commentary/ lively chat. What else should we be doing that we’re not doing? Who’s got IDEAS?

GRAMMY prediction videos or live chats w/ GD moderators
Far-fetched but getting eligibility lists of contenders in all fields.
Threads for all respective fields (GF, Pop, Rock, R&B, Hip-Hop, etc.)

[DISCLAIMER: I am a grateful fan of GoldDerby (and I admire Tom O’Neil
in particular), and in no way should my response suggest otherwise.]

    In
general, I think it might help to get more support from the main site.
For example, even though the Oscars will be given out two weeks after
the Grammys and their eligibility period won’t close for months, you’ve
already got a link to “Oscar predictions from 12 Experts” at the top of
your home page, and readers are able to submit predictions for nominees.
Meanwhile, the Grammy submission period is about to end and there’s
virtually no sign of their existence on the front page: no opportunity
to predict nominees, and the one link (in the footer) leads to an
article that was published before last January’s show.
If there were more coverage in general — or any coverage at all —
there might be more reaction in these forums.

    In your defense,
NARAS is fairly secretive about the process compared to other academies
    — e.g., full entry lists are confidential, and I’m not sure a date has
yet been announced for the nominations concert — and it may be more
difficult to find “experts” specifically attuned to the music business,
especially since such expertise wouldn’t translate to most other awards
that this site covers. But it’s hard not to feel like the Grammys are a comparative
afterthought here, and perhaps the forums are following suit.

    Just as
a point of information: is there anyone on the GoldDerby staff
specifically in charge of music awards? If there is not, that would
    probably be my first suggestion.

I agree and that’s why I’m reaching out in this forum — to find people among yourselves who REALLY know their Grammy stuff and are willing to contribute. Both as moderators of this forum and as potentials writers for the site. We no longer have editors on our team who are smart Grammy seers. Are you?

Wow, that’s great to hear; I didn’t realize you were also looking for
site contributors. (I’d be tempted to apply if not for my conflict of
interest.) I know there are a few people in the prediction threads who
might make great writers, though I should let them speak for themselves.
In any case, I truly appreciate your efforts here and wish you success.

Once nominees come out I can contribute well. The Grammys are so unpredictable. You never know when your Bon Ivers come out of no where so I can get a better grasp when the nominees are out.
