Besides her feature on “Black Widow” (which would’ve been a hit regardless), Rita hasn’t had much success as a solo artist in the US. Yet somehow she is rumored to perform at the Oscars, is constantly photographed with big named stars, and manages to have a somewhat relevant name. Do you think she’s lucky? Discuss.
I’m not sure if she’s massively tried to sell herself in the US. Many UK artists go out for six months, in order to do the full tour around radio and television which is needed for US success. The likes of One Direction and Little Mix have done this in the past couple of years, and are publicised as doing well in America.
She does work hard, and has had the opportunity to work with great song writers – such as Diane Warren, hence the alleged Oscar performance. For Band Aid 30, Bob Geldof publicly asked the BBC to let Ora have time away from filming The Voice, so that she could appear on the track. Producers do seem to like her, unless your name is a certain Calvin Harris.
Speaking of, she probably knows quite a few big names because of her time with Calvin Harris, just after he exploded in America.
This year will be interesting, with The Voice, The Oscars, her role in Fifty Shades of Grey, and her new album. She has a very busy year, which should all build up her profile, and make her more of a known entity in her own right over in the US.
