What to you think about the return of Katy Perry with her new album?
She say this new album is different.August 24, 2016 at 9:56 pm #1201913076
Katy’s smart. She knows that the typical bubblegum pop that she dishes out each album is growing tired. We need a reinvented Katy Perry. A more mature and less cartoonish artist who writes real songs that still give us catchy hooks and memorable melodies. “Rise” underperformed so she’s gotta deliver something great.August 24, 2016 at 10:11 pm #1201913087
Well Dr. Luke writes her hits for her. Okay, all but two.August 25, 2016 at 12:15 am #1201913125
She doesnt work with Dr. Luke anymoreAugust 25, 2016 at 1:41 pm #1201913419
I’ve said this since the release of Prism – but we need a “house/electronic” Katy Perry! I think that could really work for her. No more of that “Rise” crap, ughAugust 25, 2016 at 6:58 pm #1201913561
So much for NBC playing Rise during the olympics coverage. Didn’t hear it once. BG point say that it’s because Katy played it during the DNC for Hilary’s campaign and NBC didn’t want to alienate it’s viewers. Yeah, she really needs to stop promoting Hilary if she wants to stay neutral.August 26, 2016 at 1:51 pm #1201913942
^ Hillary has nothing to do with it – it’s the lameness of her music.August 27, 2016 at 3:15 am #1201914038

She’s working with Max Martin and Shellback again. Unbelievable. She never teams up with other co-writers. Yeah, it’s certain that she needs “hitmakers” that she owns her all career but, after all, she has to move on, and try something different. Teenage Dream was a good album, but she tried to make Prism in the same way. A song with social message (Firework-Roar), a dramatic ballad (The One That Got Away-Unconditionally), an uptempo for extraordinary lover (E.T.-Legendary Lovers), a party song (Last Friday Night-This Is How We Do) and a challenging woman song (California Gurls-Dark Horse). Prism was just a poor copy of Teenage Dream in sound and concept.
She saw the success of “I Kissed A Girl” and “Hot n Cold”, and she believed that she always had to work with hitmakers like Martin and Shellback. I wonder her songwriting ability without hitmakers.
I just hope that she really, really changes her sound! Otherwise her “Grammyless” situation will last for a while which is very deserved! Why do they award a woman who always does the same concept?November 3, 2016 at 10:09 am #1201944372

I disagree with you on this!
With “Prism” she really recycled the formula, but “Teenage Dream” was good for that time of pop music and the singles deserved better.November 3, 2016 at 12:46 pm #1201944459
Teenage Dream deserved AOTY in my opinion, certainly over Arcade Fire.
The song Teenage Dream should be a Grammy-winner as well.
