You saw this coming. Who’s the better entertainer (sales, popularity, etc.)?November 15, 2014 at 1:29 pm #404071
Katy Perry has more hits recently, but there is no comparison- Gaga is more iconic, influential, and talented in every sense of the word. She is the better vocalist, performer, song-writer, and visual artist.November 15, 2014 at 1:36 pm #404072
Katy is better with single sales and Gaga is better with album sales but then again Gaga’s popularity goes down every day and Katy is still rising and she recently passed 60M followers on twitterNovember 15, 2014 at 1:42 pm #404073
Katy Perry she’s still getting played and selling singles.November 15, 2014 at 2:20 pm #404074
Katy is more consistently popular, but she has yet to rise to the levels of popularity and exposure to Gaga at her peak. Gaga’s singles are still being played from years ago. Gaga has longevity. Gaga has bigger Grammy success. Gaga has a lot more critic support. Maybe Gaga was a novelty, but certainly, she has been more of an icon than Katy.November 15, 2014 at 2:55 pm #404075
Gaga. No doubt. She is more talented, more iconic, more influential. Better vocalist, performer, song-writer, artist, singer in general. ARTPOP is just a bad phase for her. There is no comparison. Katy is a generic popstar with generics hits.November 15, 2014 at 5:51 pm #404076
Lady Gaga.November 15, 2014 at 6:47 pm #404077
I would say Katy, her songs reach a wider and more diverse audience. Sure, they’re not the most celebral songs, but they stay in your head whether you want it or not.
Vocally, Gaga is much better. Katy can sing with some alterations in the studio, but for an artist that does mostly dance music, Gaga’s range is good. She reminds me of Annie Lennox and David Bowie. Gaga can also sing on-pitch live.
Fashion-wise they’re both a mess so I wont even comment on that.
Overall: KatyNovember 16, 2014 at 12:20 pm #404078

I am not taking sides on this one but I just don’t understand how you can say Gaga has longevity when Katy Perry’s been popular since 2008 without a lull in popularity. Gaga is already suffering from a major lull in popularity when she initially became popular after Katy Perry had already done so.November 16, 2014 at 1:33 pm #404079
I think Gaga is a more serious artist. She is more concerned about being artistic, and that can produce some poorly recieved singles and albums that don’t generate the publicity she wanted. Katy is more concerned with being commercially relevant. I think Katy is more manufactured than Gaga, and really frankly not very creative.
Sales wise, Katy is stronger; Gaga is too divisive. BUT overall, I think Gaga will be more respected in the future. I see Gaga working for years to come, and Katy eventually falling out of favor and into obscurity.
