It’s hard to tell from the tease because it’s so short, but Kelly’s baby, River Rose, seems to like it 🙂

She looks stunning!October 22, 2013 at 4:32 pm #393040
Kelly has released a minute-long wedding video. It’s freakin gorgeous. It’s all set to the soundtrack of Patty Griffin’s “Heavenly Day”:

^Yes, GORGEOUS! She and Brandon look so happy and so cute together!! I’m so happy for them! I have a feeling this is going to cause a change in style and mood for her next album, and I think that’ll be a good thing. No more angsty pop-rock Kelly! I want happy, mature Kelly!October 22, 2013 at 6:12 pm #393042
It’s funny, i was talking with a co-worker and he said “what’s some kelly clarkson love songs?”. i was pretty stumped to think of some. “My Life Would Suck Without You”….yeah, she doesn’t have many. Especially ones she’s released as singles.October 22, 2013 at 6:38 pm #393043
^”Miss Independent” sort of is… And… Hmm… LOLOctober 22, 2013 at 9:29 pm #393044
A Moment Like This (depending on the context)
Before Your Love
Don’t You Wanna Stay (if he/she does I suppose)
Dark Side (if he does wanna stay)
Ranked: I Winter Dreams – Was my favorite preview. Sounds vintage. The background vocals, the instrumentals, and her voice are all perfect. She picks up the volume when appropriate, and the song ends just in time for you to want more. You can really hear how impassioned she is, which is great given her recent wedding.
White Christmas – Velvety goodness. She pronounces certain words with a lingering touch that’s just perfect. The tempo is done exactly as it should be and the instrumentals complement her so very well.
Oh Come – Simple and lovely.
II Please Come Home – Unpretentious, melodic, well-sung.
Have Yourself a Merry – I like her vocal restraint here. Makes it very intimate, especially coupled with the soft instrumentals. It just goes on for just a touch too long to give her the opportunity to unnecessarily shout at the end.
Underneath the Tree – Sounds like the kind of thing that has the potential to be around for awhile in no small part due to Kelly’s vocal prowess. Though I like it without loving it.
III Just for Now – I’ve never heard the original. Too much is happening in the song, though she sounds good and the lyrics appear to be interesting.
Wrapped in Red – I like the message of the song, but not really the specific lyrical content. Her vocal style is on the overpowering side here.
My Favorite Things – I get the big band thing, but it is too loud. It feels like she’s slightly shouting at me in order to be heard over it. I prefer softer versions of this song.
4 Carats – Was my least favorite preview. The vocals are good though, even if I don’t really care for the melody or the tempo.
IV Blue Christmas – Kinda boring.
I’ll Be Home – A bit boring. Feels longer than it is, and feels like an American Idol performance in some weird way.
Baby It’s Cold Outside – She sounds lovely; her partner…does not. I prefer the instrumental to his singing.
Silent Night – Good, but I’ve heard better. One of those songs so done that it’s hard to bring something new and exciting to it.
Every Christmas – I get bored of it long before it ends. I suppose she sounds good though.
Run Run Rudolph – No thanks. I’ve never cared for the whole Rudolph thing. The music and lyrics don’t go togther, and neither are very good.
I can support Please Come Home and Underneath the Tree as singles. Oh Come is too short to be, White Christmas has a million renditions. Though I dunno why Winter Dreams isn’t a planned single…October 23, 2013 at 6:17 am #393045
Here’s my review: http://graemeoneil.com/2013/10/23/review-kelly-clarksons-wrapped-in-red/October 23, 2013 at 9:26 am #393046
Nice review, glad to hear her voice is showcased and not muted by instruments. That said, “My Favourite Things” didn’t just become a Christmas song. Many people have been covering it on Christmas albums for 50 years.October 23, 2013 at 11:41 am #393047
Yeah sorry. I wasn’t trying to imply that Kelly recording “My Favourite Things” for a Christmas album is a new thing. Just find it kinda odd that it has become a song that people do for Christmas albums. I’ll reword to clarify.October 23, 2013 at 12:00 pm #393048
No need to be sorry Boo. I hope she sings it for her special Wednesday that I am going to. MuahahahahahaOctober 28, 2013 at 8:36 am #393049
Kelly said in an interview recently that they are going to put out a video for “Underneath the tree”, but in the meantime, they’ve posted a cute lyric video for the song.
