Who is better? (credibility, popularity, sales, etc.)January 19, 2015 at 11:04 pm #408300
Janet Jackson.January 20, 2015 at 7:15 am #408301
No contest here. Madonna by far.January 20, 2015 at 9:00 am #408302
They both have pros and cons and are two very different artists. Therefore I cannot choose.
I will say I have seen Janet in concert about 6 times and Madge zero.
One thing they do have in common is that they both started making shit music about the same time.January 20, 2015 at 9:38 am #408303
The two excel at different things. Madonna may be the best female video artist, while Janet maybe be the best female live performer.January 20, 2015 at 4:15 pm #408304
is this a joke?
superbowl: MadonnaJanuary 20, 2015 at 9:36 pm #408305
Hmmm… Well its tough. Madonna has the sales for sure and probably overall popularity. But credibility I’d say they are even. Madonna is sort of a joke now right? and Janet was extremely credible at the height of her career. In fact in their prime they were about even in credibilty.
I’m going to say Madonna by the slightest margin.January 21, 2015 at 7:48 am #408306
I personally prefer Janet’s body of work, but Madonna definitely made the bigger impact globally.July 5, 2016 at 3:41 pm #1201860407

Madonna. No question
(And that is no disrespect to Janet who is fabulously talented.)July 6, 2016 at 7:25 pm #1201860789

Janet was always further behind the pop curve than Madonna and had less impact. But what I care about most is quality albums. And Janet’s few best (Janet, Rhythm Nation, Velvet Rope) are probably better than Madonna’s entire catalog. The two women really aren’t that comparable however, besides being the biggest pop/dance “divas” of the 80’s/90’s.
