She only won 5 Grammys and snubbed for how many times….

Does she deserves more than 5 Grammys? In What year? Category?

She should have won for “Daydream”, Pop Vocal Album and “One Sweet Day” w/ Boyz II Men. She should have 7Grammys then.

Honey, what in the Kim Kardashian is going on here? Mariah Carey faced stiff competition back in 90’s when she was at her peak. She rightfully lost all of those times.

I agree that Carey should’ve won Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals for “One Sweet Day” and Best Pop Album for Daydream. Mariah doesn’t deserve more than 7 Grammy Awards.

Some of Mariah Carey’s deserved losses:

    * Record of the Year for “Vision of Love” – lost to Phil Collins, “Another Day In Paradise” (understandable)

    * Record of the Year for “One Sweet Day” – lost to Seal, “Kiss From a Rose” (Seal deserved that)

    * Record of the Year for “We Belong Together” – lost to Green Day, “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” (Mimi was not worthy)

    * Album of the Year for Mariah Carey – lost to Quincy Jones, Back on the Block (that was a given)

    * Album of the Year for Daydream – lost to Alanis Morrisette, Jagged Little Pill (well deserved loss)

    * Album of the Year for The Emancipation of Mimi – lost to U2 (that Mariah album was crappy)

    * Song of the Year for “Vision of Love” – lost to “From a Distance” (that was a given)

    * Song of the Year for “We Belong Together” – lost to “Sometimes You Can’t Make It on Your Own” (understandable)

    * Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for “Emotions” – lost to Bonnie Raitt, “Something To Talk About” (Can’t argue that)

    * Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for MTV Unplugged – lost to k.d. lang, “Constant Craving” (understandable)

    * Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for “Dreamlover” lost to Whitney Houston, “I Will Always Love You” (can’t argue that)

    * Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for “Hero” – lost to Sheryl Crow, “All I Wanna Do” (it was Crow’s year)

    * Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for “Fantasy” – lost to Annie Lennox, “No More ‘I Love You’s'” (very understandable)

    * Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for “Butterfly” – lost to Sarah McLachlan, “Building a Mystery” (understandable)

    * Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for “It’s Like That” – lost to Kelly Clarkson, “Since U Been Gone” (it was Kelly’s year)

    * Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for “Always Be My Baby” – lost to Anita Baker, “I Apologize” (Anita rightfully won)

    * Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for “Honey” – lost to Erykah Badu, “On & On” (Badu rightfully won)

    * Best Female R&B Vocal Performance for “Don’t Forget About Us” – lost to Mary J. Blige, “Be Without You” (Mary deserved it)

    * Best R&B Song for “Honey” – lost to “I Believe I Can Fly”

    * Best R&B Song for “Don’t Forget About Us” – lost to “Be Without You”

Yeah, I suppose her only real loss is One Sweet Day for Duo/Group, and Boyz II Men were as snubbed as she was, two of the biggest names from the 90s released the biggest song ever and they don’t win?

However, even as a huge Sheryl Crow fan, who chooses All I Wanna Do’s vocals over Hero’s vocals? The song was huge, the vocals were huge, the artist was huge. She should’ve won that one, but I understand how Crow was a favorite that year. And it ended up winning ROTY too so there’s clear favoritism for the song. But still….

Her Mimi losses are understandable, the comeback and the sales made some of those nominations happen more than the music itself. E=MC2 was a better album.

Hero losing to All I Wanna Do for Pop Female was very surprising to me. I expected either Hero or The Power of Love by Celine Dion to win in 1995.

I do not think Bonnie Raitt should have won for Something To Talk, but should have won for I Can’t Make You Love Me for Pop Female in 1992.

Mariah should have won Pop Collaboration for One Sweet Day and Pop Album for Daydream.

If Rap/Sung category existed in 1996, then Fantasy would have won that hands down.

In hindsight, given her competition, I’d give awarded Mariah…

1991 – Album of the Year, Best New Artist
1996 – Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance
    1998 – Best Female R&B Vocal Performance

So yeah, five wins but for different work than the Grammys recognized.

Doubtful. Method Man & Mary J. Blige would have edged that out.

“Fantasy” featuring Ol’ Dirty Bastard is a remix that was not on the Daydream album. Back then, remixes were not eligible for Grammy consideration.

No way did Mariah Carey deserve to win Album of the Year (1990) and Best Female R&B Vocal Performance (1995 & 1997) over her competition.

Wait I don’t get why one sweet day was nominated for record of the year at the 1996 Grammys. Didn’t it come out at the end of 1995 so shouldn’t it have been nominated for the 1997 Grammys? It would have won if so, But anywho we all know she should have won record of the year for we belong together…

Yeah, the song competed at the 1996 Ceremony, but both the album (october) and single (november) were released late 1995. So it doesn’t make sense. Of course we say this according to our current elegibility period. But I think october-september was still the period back then, maybe the album came out in some form before October 3rd 1996 which is the date Wikipedia has for its release.

I am not sure why they submitted Mariah Carey for the 1996 Grammy Awards. Maybe it was based on when the album was shipped.

She has one 5. Here are the other times when she was nominated, that I think she should gave won!

    1992- Female Pop Solo- Emotions
Bonnie is a respectable winner here but I think Emotions is HANDS DOWN Mariahs best recorded vocal.

    1995- FEMALE POP SOLO- Hero
I love Sheryl Crow’s All I Wanna Do and I understood why it won but Hero really should have taken it.

1996- POP COLLABORATION- One Sweet Day
OSD had major competition in ROTY, but it should have easily won this category.

    1996- POP ALBUM- DAYDREAM
Mariah should have definatly won this category (esp since DAYDREAM is her strongest album). She was never going to win AOTY bc the competition was insane that her. But the album should have taken this trophy home!

1996- FEMALE R&B- ALWAYS BE MY BABY
Mariah should have easily taken this trophy that year, IMO.

2006- SONG OF YEAR- WE BELONG TOGETHER
ROTY was stacked with great songs and Green Day was an excellent winner. But the SOTY line up was much weaker and Mariah should gave snatched that award

So that would put her total at 11.

Here are the awards I think Mariah should have been nomiated for!

They should have put DREAMLOVER in FEMALE R&B bc Whitney Houston was never going to lose the FEMALE POP that year.

    EMOTIONS for ROTY.

    DREAMLOVER for ROTY.

    HERO for SOTY.

FANTASY for ROTY. (they should have submitted OSD for song and FANTASY for record)

MY ALL for ROTY AND SOTY

#BEATIFUL should have been nominated in one of the collaboration category (POP or R&B)

TOUCH MY BODY should have gotten FEMALE R&B AND R&B SONG noms.

I’m not sure if Butterfly the album was submitted for Pop or R&B album but it should have been nominated in one or the other

Sorry, but Always Be My Baby is a pop song that had no business in the R&B category. Anita Baker rightfully won for I Apologize.

I think 4 or 5 Grammys are enough.
