YES! Nicki is very entertaining! She better watch out cause Lola Monroe is gaining buzz. I think theres room for tons of female rappers tho.

Despite it’s eventual success (thanks to Super Bass), the Pink Friday era was sort of a mess. Singles were getting hurled at the wall, with the hope that they would “stick”.  I’d like for her next era to be more orchestrated. I’d also like her and her label to pay close attention to the tracklist. The very idea that Super Bass didn’t origionally appear on Pink Friday is shameful and laughable. Thank goodness the label had balls to release a bonus track as a single.

Yeah I agree, it seemed she was releasing singles from that album like candy at a parade. Although it seems to me that “Moment 4 Life” and “Super Bass” were the only real memorable hits off the album. Her album would have sold a ton more as well if “Super Bass” was apart of the standard edition, and released earlier.

PF is a fun album, however I hope she actually goes in a more direct direction this time around regarding rap and not make all this pop music crap.

Nicki Minaj has been named Billboard’s “Rising Star” for 2011, capping off a year that has seen the hip-hop star top the charts with her massive-selling “Pink Friday” album and, most recently, earn a pair of trophies at the American Music Awards. The Rising Star Award acknowledges Minaj’s phenomenal year and will be presented at the Billboard Women in Music Event on Dec. 2 in New York City.

Minaj will be joined at the sixth annual event by Billboard Woman of the Year Taylor Swift, her friend and an early booster through radio interviews and a widely seen concert cameo.

“I am deeply honored to be recognized by Billboard,” says Minaj. “My nation of barbz and I have come a mighty long way; yet we are nowhere close to where God will take us. Sit back and enjoy the ride.”

She cemented her status as the breakout star of the year early on, when “Pink Friday” helped her become the first female rapper in a decade to top the Billboard 200. Her mega-single, “Super Bass,” became a viral sensation and the song reached No. 3 on the Hot 100. The debut album has gone on to sell 1.6 million, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The 28-year-old star, born Onika Tanya Maraj, began releasing mix-tapes in 2007 and later signed with Young Money Entertainment, a label founded by Lil Wayne. She rapped a solo verse on the 2010 hit “BedRock,” which reached No. 2 on the Hot 100.

“Pink Friday,” released in November 2010, has yielded eight singles so far, including “Your Love,” “Moment 4 Life” and “Super Bass,” which is actually a bonus track on a deluxe edition of the album.

On Nov. 20, Minaj cleaned up at the AMAs, earning Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Soul/R&B Album.

In being named Billboard’s Rising Star, Minaj follows in the footsteps of Jazmine Sullivan (2010), Lady Gaga (2009), and Colbie Caillat, who in 2008 was the first artist ever to be given this honor.

“Nicki Minaj has established herself as a force in hip-hop and pop music, and we’re thrilled to recognize her accomplishments over the past year by honoring her as this year’s Rising Star,” says Bill Werde, Billboard’s Editorial Director. “Her unique style and powerful sound will undoubtedly lead to a long and lustrous career, and we look forward to seeing where she goes and what she does next.”

Billboard’s annual Women in Music Event, now in its sixth year, celebrates the most powerful and talented women in the music business, coinciding with the publication of Billboard’s Women in Music Power Players list. This year’s event will be taking place on Friday, Dec. 2 at Capitale in New York City.

I think the pop act is whats keeping her relevant.  If she did straight rap I doubt she would be as successful as she is now.  I thought Pink Friday was horrible overall.

Of course not. lol Her whole style is a mash up of Katy’s and GaGa’s. The spunky, crazy rap gimmick is working for her. I doubt a hardcore type image or sound would result in the success she’s seeing right now.

On another note: Nicki’s 2nd album is entitled Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. She announced it on Twitter last night.

“Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” sounds like a re-release instead of a new album title. I guess she’s going to ride this “Pink Friday” gimmick until the wigs fall off.

People get at Nicki Minaj for some of the same stuff that has been done by female rappers. Missy Elliott and Kim were both crazy and out of the box. Both of them also had Pop-friendly singles.  Even Even had to work with Gwen to get her biggest Pop hit. I think Nicki Minaj should keep doing what she’s doing. Its refreshing seeing a female rapper have this kinda success in this day and age. Even tho she’s getting too carried away with her outfits lol!

This re-release should push her past Double-Platinum status.

Um, you just called her a “sellout” not too long ago, and this isn’t a re-release. It’s a new album.

I still think she’s selling out. Not even just her music but the way she talks, dress and her actions. She losing her street cred that she once had. I cant knock her hustle tho. She clearly knows what she has to do to gain a CHR/Pop fanbase. Pop radio has their mind made on what they will and will not play from Urban artist. Its sad but its true. Nicki has dreams of being one of the biggest Rappers and to do that she has to crossover.

I don’t think anyone’s trying to knock her hustle, and there is an obvious difference between the way Missy Elliott, Lil Kim and Eve blew up and the way Nicki blew up. Her image and sound are way more pop friendly than theirs were, and they presented themselves during their first albums the same way they presented themselves before their first albums. They transitioned as the years went on. Mixtape Nicki and Pink Friday Nicki are not the same. There’s nothing wrong with that, but it’s clear that she didn’t take the Missy/Lil Kim/Eve route to get success. She took the GaGa and Katy route to do it.

Shes continuing with this “Pink Friday” title?? My God where did these artists creativity go?
Anyways I hope this is more of a rap/hip hop album, Pink Friday is enjoyable but I feel like its more bubble gum pop than rap. I also hope she gets her personality back, shes become such a fame whore and its gotten to her head.
