Norah Jones is coming out with a new album called ‘…Little Broken Hearts’ produced by Danger Mouse. First single “Happy Pills” is a simple but catchy little ditty about getting over a bad relationship.
Honestly, I love it. Is anyone else anticipating Ms. Jones’ new album?March 7, 2012 at 2:46 pm #379472
This came very unexpected to me. I didn’t hear anything about it until iTunes put up the pre-order.
Anyway, I’m not the biggest Norah Jones fan, but I got to give her credit for gradually developing and moving on from the sound she started with. It seems to me like she moved more and more in a rock direction with each album and Happy Pills indicates a continuation of this trend. That said, I like the song and will check out the album, but I doubt that it will knock me over.
btw, she looks great on the cover and promos.March 7, 2012 at 3:50 pm #379473
Yeah, “Happy Pills” is a great track.March 7, 2012 at 4:45 pm #379474
YAAAASSS Norah! I love “Happy Pills.”March 7, 2012 at 6:08 pm #379475
That is a newer direction for her. I guess I can’t call her Snorah anymore. LoL. The song’s alright. I don’t love it, but it’s something different. She looks amazing though in what will hopefully be the cover art.March 7, 2012 at 7:18 pm #379476
I always thought she was boring but that seems to be whats selling now so im sure she’ll be good. “Happy Pills” is a step in the right direction.March 7, 2012 at 9:25 pm #379477
I really like this song a lot. And I love her album cover too. I’m a fan, though I’ve never been a huge fan, but I can say that I’m really digging her sound on this single and I’m really looking forward to the new album. I love what Danger Mouse did on The Black Keys ‘El Camino’.March 8, 2012 at 9:42 am #379478
I like how she’s evolving her sound, but my problem with Norah still remains. I don’t think she’s exceptionally talented. Her voice is pleasing, but very unremarkable. The song “Don’t Know Why” was great, but couldn’t that have been successful with any artist? I’ve always though the triumph of that tune was the writing, not the performance. Her grammy sweep was frustrating to me for that reason.
I’ll definitely give “Little Broken Hearts” a listen.March 11, 2012 at 9:00 am #379479
Great song, A very fresh evolution of her sound!April 10, 2012 at 10:19 am #379481
She really does. But, I gotta admit I don’t get that video. I’ve watched
it three times now, and still don’t understand who all those people are
supposed to be. But, whatever.April 10, 2012 at 10:43 am #379482
^LOL! Me neither, but it all looks nice and she looks fabulous! Hahaha… So there’s that.May 1, 2012 at 1:38 pm #379483
I’ll have a full review soon, but as I’m giving Ms. Jones’ new album a spin, my biggest complaint is that Danger Mouse’s production is more of a detriment than an asset. This sounds like a new Broken Bells album only with a female lead singer instead. There are some strong tracks so far (“Good Morning”, “She’s 22”, “Take It Back”) and Jones sounds lovely, but I’m wishing that she didn’t do this whole album with Danger Mouse. I’d love to hear what she could’ve done with someone like Jack White or man of the hour Paul Epworth.May 3, 2012 at 7:44 pm #379484
Extremely disappointed in this album. It’s easily her weakest to date. It is a different sound for her, but there’s not strong melodies or anything memorable outside of “Happy Pills”. Too bad.
