By BIG I don’t mean weight but significant chart success and love of the masses.
I, for one, really liked The Black Eyed Peas since “Where Is The Love?” as it was the time when Fergie has joined the group and they started to get some exposure. I liked “Elephunk” and had rather mixed feelings towards “Monkey Business” with loving “Don’t Phunk With My Heart” and “Don’t Lie” while hating “My Humps” and “Pump It”. I completely lost the connection with the group when they went electro and, weirdly, it was the time when they really became superstars with strange combo of two less than stellar songs, “Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling”, staying at #1 on Hot 100 for almost 6 monts combined!!!!!!!! Since then I liked “Meet Me Halfway” and, to some degree, “Rock Your Body” but the rest of the songs is so terrible I’m shocked they even get played in the first place.
Similar thing with Maroon 5. I liked the group around the time of “She Will Be Loved” and “Misery” and then they became really big with “Moves Like Jagger” which was, IMO, decent. However, since then they had a giant successes with truly horrible songs, “Payphone” and “One More Night”. Adam Levine in “The Voice” doesn’t hurt but what people can see in that songs?
Sometimes it looks like you have to take few steps back to really achieve something.October 11, 2012 at 5:42 am #384572
I don’t get your logic. BEP were big before “Boom Boom Pow”. Maroon 5 probably were their most popular when they released “She Will Be Loved”. Those groups didn’t become more popular. Their music just got worse.October 11, 2012 at 6:57 am #384573
Beyonce. I stopped liking her music after her solo debut album was released.October 11, 2012 at 7:23 am #384574

I thought in terms of chart success. BEP didn’t hit #1 until “Boom Boom Pow” and were hit or miss on the charts while Maroon 5 neved had such a consecutive string of successful singles like now. I know charts aren’t everything and both groups could have been even more popular at some point.October 11, 2012 at 9:14 am #384576
Kings of Leon. When Use Somebody blew up, I started hating their guts.October 11, 2012 at 11:31 pm #384577
Adele – She was cool when she first debuted. Once 21 came out and everyone got on her nuts, I became over her.October 12, 2012 at 3:37 am #384578
Adele. I loved Hometown Glory and to some extend Chasing Pavements. I liked 21 at first and even advised friends to check her out. But as soon as everybody and their mama acted like 21 was the 2nd coming and she was the best artist to ever walk on earth, a strong dislike for her music arose in me.
