    Hey everyone,

I don’t post around here much, but I’m always looking (specifically in the music section) to read everyone’s thoughts, especially this time of year.

Does anyone have any predictions or preferences in the R&B categories for the upcoming Grammys? I know many feel that R&B music has been in a slump for the last several years or so, but I’ve really been enjoying it in 2015, as well as the current Grammy eligibility year of selections.

Before the deadline closes, I think the last two major albums that are expected to be out are Tamar Braxton and BJ The Chicago Kid (both should be out within the next few weeks). I’ve actually already heard BJ’s album (through a listening session), and it’s quite solid to me.

My personal favorites (album wise) this year have come from D’Angelo, Tamia, The Internet, Jazmine Sullivan, and Jill Scott.

Not sure I’m ready to predict yet, but these are my preferences.

    BEST R&B PERFORMANCE:
“Classic Man” – Jidenna feat. Roman GianArthur
    “Fool’s Gold” – Jill Scott
“Post to Be” – Omarion feat. Chris Brown & Jhene Aiko
    “Shame” – Tyrese
“That One” – Teedra Moses feat. Anthony Hamilton

    BEST TRADITIONAL R&B PERFORMANCE:
    “Coming Home” – Leon Bridges
    “Feeling Good” – Lauryn Hill
“If I Don’t Have You” – Tamar Braxton
    “Really Love” – D’Angelo & The Vanguard
“You Don’t Know” – Jill Scott

    BEST R&B SONG:
“Classic Man” (Jidenna feat. Roman GianArthur)
    “Fool’s Gold” (Jill Scott)
    “No Sleeep” (Janet Jackson)
“Post to Be” (Omarion feat. Chris Brown & Jhene Aiko)
    “Sandwich and a Soda” (Tamia)

    BEST URBAN CONTEMPORARY ALBUM:
    VII – Teyana Taylor
    Anybody Wanna Buy a Heart?
    – K. Michelle
    Ego Death
    – The Internet
    Reality Show – Jazmine Sullivan
    Wildheart
    – Miguel

    BEST R&B ALBUM:
    Black Messiah – D’Angelo & The Vanguard
    Black Rose – Tyrese
Cognac & Conversation – Teedra Moses
    Love Life – Tamia
    Woman – Jill Scott

I think Uptown Special and Beauty Behind The Madness will go in Best Urban Contemporary Album, at least the first one doesn’t sound like a pop album. Black Messiah should win Best R&B Album hands down, I’m crossing my fingers for a AOTY nomination.
