I think they should be brought back. Not just for pop either. R&B, Rap, Country. So many artists are being cut out of awards and nominations over acts that own the Grammys regardless. Say in pop for instance, no matter what they will go for sales. I think if we bring back Gender based categories it gives more chances to artists. I’ve seen people say that back when it was established, that there wasn’t many submissions. Well it’s 2018. Look what happened this year. There are so many male and female pop stars. Everyone deserves a fighting chance and too many artists are being overlooked and snubbed. Same with Country, R&B, And Rap. We know when Adele, Taylor, Kendrick, and Beyoncé drop music, they’re always gonna snatch. So who’s to say others don’t deserve a chance.

R&b is the field with the most categories (5). We don’t need more.

The less categories the better. It makes the awards more coveted and competitive. There is no need for separate categories for men and women. While they’re at it they should get rid of Best New Artist.

^^^ Your saying the word “competitive” reminds me of another reason why the genders should be separated. It is already harder for females to get time on the radio compared to the males and so for them to compete for the Best Solo Performance awards when they are pretty much against each other for the other awards like Best Song, Record, and Album for example only makes it even more unfair to the females, so to have an award for just them in my opinion is not asking for much if an equal amount of radio time for them compared to the males can’t be in the cards. Things that are shiny are supposed to be a girl’s best friend any ways. (smiles)

God bless you and them always!!!

Yes. absolutely at least it gives more female artists an oppurtunity to get nominated and win Grammy’s when otherwise they would likely go without,

I think it would be cool. Just as a way to shut up all the SJWs who say #[such and such]isso[such and such].

I think Country and Pop should be separated. Country female artists barely get any airplay since most country radio managers are sexist dudes. And Pop in general is a very broad term, so there’s always a ton of artists there.

That aside, why isn’t there a “Best Pop Song” category? Who said Pop songs are all clichè or badly written.

I don’t think the Grammys should be in the business of adding more categories.
