I recently listened to Cyndi Lauper’s Bring Ya To The Brink and I was surprised that the song Into The Nightlife was not nominated for Best Dance Recording in 2009.

I will admit that I did like Kelly Osbourne’s One Word and that would have been a desaerving nominee in 2006 for Best Dance Recording.

Are there any other snubs that you thought took place in the Dance categories at the Grammys?

Kylie Minogue – Can’t Get You Out of My Head.  Hell, her entire catalog….She should have had at least 5 awards from this catagory.

    ^This.

    Kelis, “Accapella”
    Kelly Rowland, “Commander”
LCD Soundsystem, “North American Scum”, “Someone Great”
Stardust “Music Sounds Better With You”
    Safri Duo, “Played-A-Live”
    Modjo, “Lady (Hear Me Tonight)”
Moloko, “Sing It Back”,  “The Time Is Now”, “Forever More”
Roisin Murohy, “Ruby Blue”, “Let Me Know”

There are certainly more I am forgetiing right now.
But I gotta admit there have been a couple of very good nominees in the
Dance Recording category who didn’t  make it in by name, but for a great
track. Like Télépopmusic, Basement Jaxx or Deep Dish.

Were any of the singles off of The Prodigy’s The Fat of the Land eligible for the 1998 Grammy???  Cause any of them would’ve been deserving, especially “Breathe” and “Smack My Bitch Up.”  Same with The Chemical Brothers’ Dig Your Own Hole, ’cause “Block Rockin’ Beats” or “Elektrobank” should’ve been up for that award in that case.

I’m also amazed that Basement Jaxx hasn’t made it into this category more often:  “Rendez-vous,” “Romeo,” “Where’s Your Head At?,” and “Raindrops” (or in fact most of Scars) would’ve been worthy nominees.

Moby’s “Bodyrock” should’ve been nominated instead of “Natural Blues” IMO, even though I like both songs.

Missy Elliot’s “Lose Control” is also a great dance track, even if it’s also hip-hop.  Could it have been submitted here??

Lastly, I also second the Stardust and Modjo mentions above, though I’d add Modjo’s “Chillin'” to their list.

Kylie was nominated for Love At First Sight instead of Can’t Get You Out of My Head.  My guess is that Can’t Get You Out of My Head was submitted to Pop Female.

Oh Yeah, “Breathe” should definitely have been nominated.

“Block Rockin’ Beats” actually won a Grammy in the Rock Instrumental category and Dig Your Own Hole was nominated in Alternative Album. Maybe “Elektrobank” or “Don’t Stop the Rock” were submitted to Dance.

“Lose Control” was indeed nominated in Rap/Sung collabo.

“Chillin” is alright, but it sounds too much like Jamiroquai to me.

You also forgot “I Believe In You” and “Slow”. I think it’s the label’s fault for careless submissions. She should have gotten at least a nod for “Get Outta My Way”, but I think the label sumitted to best pop female.

I hope she gets in this year for “Timebomb” another excellent track.

GOMW was submitted to pop along with Aphrodite which both would have made excellent Dance category nominees. All the Lovers would have suited Pop much better imo.
It was the year before the overhaul, so I don’t really understand what her lable was thinking when they didn’t even try to get in the Dance categories, even though she was a previous winner there.

^ A lot of great Eurodance there, esp. with Alice Deejay and Vengaboys.  I’d add DJ Sammy’s cover of Bryan Adams’s “Heaven;” that was a great dance track.

Missy Elliot’s 4 My People is a great dance track from the Miss E So Addictive cd that would have been a very desrving nominee.

Here are some additional choices that would have made a great choice:

    Ultra Nate – Desire
Ultra Nate – Found A Cure
Amber, Ultra Nate, Jocelyn Enriquez – If You Could Read My Mind
Kristine W – Need Some Luvin’
Pet Shop Boys – New York City Boy

The Venga Boys – We Like To Party
Cher – A Different Type of Love Song
Donna Summer – Love Is The Healer
    Fragma – Toca’s Miracle
Reel 2 Reel – Jazz It Up
