I’m not sure if you guys have had the chance to check out my latest article contribution where I discuss ten albums that should have been nominated for Album of the Year.

    http://www.goldderby.com/news/7520/grammys-grammy-awards-beyonce-kanye-west-janelle-monae-music-news-13579086-story.html

If you do take a few minutes to check it out, what are your thoughts on my picks?  What albums would you add to the list?

Great article, Troy! In recent years I’d say MDTF by Kanye West.

    Illmatic – Nas
Modern Vampires of the City – Vampire Weekend

The Trinity Sessions by the Cowboy Junkies is a classic work that was criminally ignored by the Grammys in the late 1980s. While championed by Robert Hilburn, noted music critic of the Los Angeles TimesThe Trinity Sessions was released in early 1988 and had lost its following by the time Grammy voting occurred.

The work was recorded in a Canadian church with the band clustered around a single microphone. For me, the album is a lasting piece of superb music that captures an ethereal sound which has not diminished over the years. A highlight of the tracks is a stunning take on Lou Reed’s Sweet Jane. Lead singer Margo Timmins has a haunting vocal that brings out a wealth of emotion in the lyric that listeners may not have heard in previous releases.

    Worth a listen:
