Too bad her young, raudy ass likely missed her chance at pop stardom. You can’t be the female Kanye before releasing an album. But it’s pretty apparent after listening to the album that her music and attitude isn’t meant for the mainstream radio. My initial impression is that it’s repetitive in spots and some old songs are unnecessarily tacked on (212, really? Though it’s aged very well). But overall it’s a fun and unique effort. Hopefully it does well enough so she can put out a proper album.

The album is good, but it’s obvious that as much as her ego had to do with her missing the oportunity, I think the label probably not knowing how to promote her had something to do with this as well, as even a few years back, it would’ve bene hard to picture this having much crossover success. I wish it didn’t have as many of her older songs (although the new version of “Gimme a Chance” is excellent). I still like her, but it’s hard to get excited for an album when so many of the songs already feel so familiar. “Soda” is my favorite among the new tracks.

I’m digging it. Haven’t listened enough, but I’ll def be giving it a few spins and then reporting back. I’m just glad it’s finally out.

Just wish we all hadn’t heard half of the album before its release, but that’s inevitable after so many delays. It’s definitely on point. Even its flaws and overreaches are exhilarating. A wtf moment like “Nude Beach a Go-Go” is kinda cute and oddly fits. You gotta give her credit for always going for it and having the talent and collaborators to pull off going in so many directions. Stand out tracks (not counting sh*t I heard over a year ago): Wallace, Desperado, Soda, Ice Princess.

I actually really like “Nude Beach a Go-Go” despite it not fitting on the album at all. It’s so bizarre… But it’s such an addictively fun song.

“Gimme a Chance” gives me life. I’m obsessed! Rest of the album is pretty good too, but this song is just on another level. Love the Spanish rapping and the brassy band.

“Gimme a Chance” is the one song that’s a bit too schizo for me. I just skip to the Spanish section.

“Idle Delilah” is pretty damn good. Listened to it for almost an hour this afternoon on a loop.

She had potential to be a big deal in the music industry but for some reason women can’t get away with being douchebags. Double standards. But it doesn’t stop the fact that she’s a dope artist.

“Ice Princess” is the dopest video by a female rapper in a LONG time.
