Ed Sheeran is going to sweep everything except for Best British Video. Watch freaking Harry Styles win Best British Video. As for Dua Lipa, I didnt know how big she was in her country. Congrats to her. As for Sam Smith, it sucks. I wouldn’t show up if I were him. Alicia Keys being nominated this year is like Eminem being nominated at the 2017 MTV Europe Music Awards…..he didn’t do anything for a while until after he won.January 16, 2018 at 4:49 pm #1202468798
Björk among the nominees. Let the 2019 Grammy …January 24, 2018 at 3:25 am #1202477072
And that Alicia Keys nod is so random… like, what did she do to get that nomination? Camila Cabello and Lana Del Rey, even Katy Perry deserved it the most
The Alicia Keys nomination does seem a bit odd. It appears there was a 16 month eligibility period for nominees which ended in late 2017. Given that Camila Cabello released her album after the end of the eligibility period, it’s possible that she wouldn’t have been a good choice for this year, but we could expect to see her nominated for 2019.
Since there is a precedent for an acclaimed artist winning over a more commercially successful artist (Björk has won 5 times), St. Vincent might have been a better choice for International Female.
I hope Wolf Alice can take British Group and I suspect Ed Sheeran and Dua Lipa are winning a lot of awards.February 19, 2018 at 3:04 pm #1202497089
NME awards in London a few days ago were interesting. Female artists took quite a number of wins, including Best Track, Best International Solo Artist and Best International Band. Perhaps influenced by the Grammys and the lack of female wins in major categories.
I’m wondering if we might see the same trend here at the BRIT awards with artists perceived to be snubbed at the Grammys getting some recognition.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kendrick Lamar and Lorde get the Male and Female International Solo wins, with Ed Sheeran getting most of the awards he is eligible for.February 20, 2018 at 9:35 pm #1202497883

Now beginning to think that Stormzy could be a threat to Ed Sheeran for some of those awards such as British Male/British Album. British Group could go several ways, but I’m thinking The xx might get it over Wolf Alice.
