Ciara just unveiled the beautiful cover for her album and tour poster. Will you be buying tickets and a CD? Jackie’s lead single “I Bet” is doing surprisingly well on the charts.
Honey, Ciara is a guilty pleasure of mine. Not really feeling “I Bet.” I bet this new album flops, no pun intended.
Ciara hasn’t had a hit album since The Evolution. Her music is a guilty pleasure of mine as well. Girl can dance! “I Bet” was an instant grower upon listen. I love that song. If she maintains momentum through out the year, she could sell decently. Or prehaps better than she’s done the past 3-4 albums.
Sooo I saw CiCi in concert last night and she tore the place down! Girlfriend can dance and perform her ass off.
As far as the new album is concerned, it has a surprising Pop sound. She seems inspired by Janet’s All for You. It would be effective if Ciara were actually a big Pop artist. But she relies on R&B hits to stay a float. That’s her niche. I don’t think this album will stick.
I can definitely hear some Janet influence, and I think that’s a positive. I don’t know if this will be a hit era for her, but I think this is her best album in a while (her most cohesive for sure). There are some real jams in here that could be hits if marketed properly.
Standout tracks: “Lullaby”, “Dance Like We’re Making Love”, “I Bet”
“I Bet” has grown on me. I hope it gets some R&B nominations since they snubbed her last album, Ciara. That album was really good.
Jackie will flop since R&B music isn’t selling.
Ciara was a great album! There were so many memorable and standout tracks. I thought that deserved a nomination somewhere in the R&B field.
Jackie isn’t even R&B so it will sell less. If Ciara could follow up with a Urban crossover song featuring a “go to” rapper of the moment, Jackie would have more legs. But unfortunately R&B radio won’t touch anything on this album besides the first single and Pop radio has long abandoned Ciara since “LoveSexMagic”. Strategically going the full blown Pop route wasn’t the best idea.
