Producer/DJ/Songwriter/Electronic artist Diplo is having one of the biggest years of his career with his side projects Major Lazer (the Billboard top 5 smash “Lean On”) and his project with six-time Grammy winner Skrillex, Jack Ü (the Justin Bieber comeback/redemption collab “Where Are Ü Now”), in addition to producing a large amount of Madonna‘s ‘Rebel Heart’ album.

In 2012, he was nominated for Producer of the Year (Non-Classical.) It’s not unlikely for him to end up there again, though its worth noting that he’s listed as Executive Producer on Major Lazer’s ‘Peace is the Mission’ album, but production credits on the songs list as “Major Lazer.”

He was songwriting credits on both “Lean On” & “Where Are Ü Now” (as Thomas Wesley Pentz.) It’s likely that “Where Are Ü Now” will submit to Pop Performance By a Duo or Group with Vocal (Skrillex and Diplo featuring Justin Bieber.), while Jack Ü would probably submit their first single “Take  Ü There (featuring Kiesza)” to Best Dance Recording.

My guess is “Lean On” will submit to Best Dance Recording (Major Lazer featuring DJ Snake & MØ.) Both Major Lazer’s ‘Peace Is the Mission’ and Jack  Ü’s ‘Skrillex & Diplo Present… Jack  Ü’ would probably submit in Best Dance/Electronic Album.

I think “Lean On” is a very possible General Field contender. Perhaps maybe not “Where Are  Ü Now” outside of the pop field.

Where do you see any of the Diplo projects landing? Worth noting that last year’s Dance Recording nominees favored more underground deep house beats over big stadium-friendly anthems.

Worth noting that his public persona, party boy image, twitter feuds, mocking Taylor Swift, Katy Perry rumors, could easily distract from his musical achievements.

Correct, Major Lazer is his reggae-based side project

I would love to see Diplo being nominated in lots of categories this year , he really deserves .
This is his big year. It would be a shame if he pass unnoticed by the jury of the Grammys

He’s one of my dark horse this year

Lean On: Record of The Year, and Dance Recording
Peace is the mission and Skrillex and Diplo present…Jack Ü for Best Dance/Electronica Album
Where are Ü Now for Dance Recording
and Himself for Best Producer of the Year Non-Classical

I really doubt that his private life interfere with something.
Gaga still recieved 6 nominations back in 2011, though in 2010 she was the target of hundreds of criticism for her meat dress.
just like miley cyrus this 2015, she received a nomination despite her very wild 2013

I really screwed the pooch on those Foo Fighters predictions (yikes, not even Rock Album), but totally called Diplo being a mulitple nominee incl. Producer of the Year

Sad that “Lean On” was snubbed though! “Where Are U Now” and the Jack U album deserved those nominations though.
