What do you guys think of the new Boy Bands that are making impacts ? Are they talented ? Will they last ? Which one is your favorite ? Is this what the industry needs right now ? Will they ALL get Grammy nominations are will voters be forced to pick one ?

I dont think these guys are any good but I will say that its taking me back to the TRL Nsync, Backstreet Boys days. Even for the Urban audience theres Mindless Behavior aka B2K.

There are only two right now having success (The Wanted & One Direction; I don’t think fun. are marketed as a “boyband”), so it may just be a fad. Neither groups are interesting and they don’t really bring that spark *NSync and BSB did.

Fun fits the whole Blink 182, Good Charlotte, Sum 41 vibe more(edgier). Which were seen as rivals to Nsync and BSB. But I think they were apart of that movement as well. I agree that they are not interesting but in all fairness I’ve only heard their singles. Im just not not checking for them.

Those were “anti-boybands.” They were to *NSync and B2B what Pink, Michelle Branch, Avril Lavigne and even Norah Jones were to Britney, Christina, Mandy Moore and Jessica Simpson. I wouldn’t label fun. a “boyband.” They are basically in the same box with Foster The People. They are a part of the alternative/indie/non-dancepop movement that we see gaining traction.

The Wanted and One Direction are a poor man’s BSB or N’Sync. Both Backstreet and N’Sync has some serious talent. While each group certainly had their “filler” members, there’s no denying the vocal talents of BSB, and the sheer shomanship of N’Sync, who were amazing performners.

The Wanted and One Directon both look the part, but I think both groups lack vocal talent. Even more noticible is that they both lack charisma. And notice how neither The Wanted or One Direction do any sort of exciting Choreography.  Maybe times have changed, but I don’t think either band has anything on our beloved boy bands of yesteryear. To put it into perspective, I’d be shocked if a “Justin Timberlake” emerged from either of these new boy bands.

I think One Direction, thought their songs are quite generic and basically awful, are actually talented. I don’t know if its auto-tuned, but they seem to be pretty good vocally.
