I’m surprised NO ONE has made a thread about this. It’s debuting today.

I think it will do good. Maybe even get exclusive rights to certain artists. Taylor Swift has her catalog (excluding 1989) on Tidal and it seems that a lot of artist are promoting it.

This will flop. No one is going to pay 20$ a month if they can A. just buy it on iTunes B. Already have the music C. Also pay 10$ or more for Netflix a month. Plus no one on twitter is supporting this. This will go down in flames soon

All that star power on one stage. It was a SNL skit just waiting to happen.

What a useless campaign. I saw the promo video with all of those multi-millionaires with the dramatic music as if the press release was supposed to be some groundbreaking moment. The press release was even worse: Alicia Keys rambling on about how music is important to us all, and all the other mainstream celebrities standing there self-righteous and bored at the same time with nothing to contribute other than their existence. They really mentioned nothing about the incentive the actual consumer will get out of it, how it benefits those behind the scenes or why is it better than its competitors such as Spotify or Rdio. Their selling point is that it’s the first artist-owned streaming service, as if that supposed to matter to me.

I’m not gonna lie- I got that free trial for a month. Hahaha… It does sound great. Listening to both, Tidal has a much better sound quality than Spotify. Is it enough to make me want to pay $20 a month? Hell no.

Also, my favorite comment about that celeb-packed video was someone asking if it was an Illuminati meeting, lmfao.

Cool idea, and I do think music does need to go the way of “Netflix”…in offering exclusive content. I like all the artists coming together, but yeah, the press conference was ridiculous. Alicia’s speech talking about the value of music in society…
No one is debating the value of music in society. And no one really has a problem with how they current pay for music. These well-off artists made it seem like they are our “saviours”. Ummm no. We have made you millionaires. The focus of this launch should have been how the audience will benefit from Tidal.  Not the other way around.  No one gives a sh** about how Beyonce wants to make a little bit more money. She’s doing fine.  You should have shown us why WE need Tidal.

You are totally right Graeme. Talking about how this puts the artist back in control is cool and all, but save that for the private business meetings. Why is this good for the user?? That should’ve been the complete focus.

It looks like Tital will start getting exclusive streaming rights from acts like Beyoncé, Kanye, Rihanna ect.. But as far as $$$ goes to yeah the singers have all the dough but what happens to the songwriters who don’t make that much from free streaming? I just buy my music a lot easier.

I don’t need rich, millionaire musicians telling me this is a music revolution and that I need to “respect the music” – I’m just fine with my Spotify subscription, thank you very much. I don’t need to pay for some exclusive “high quality” content that is DOUBLE the price of my spotify premium for what is most likely NOT better quality. Regardless, I’m not listening to music to compare whether a version is “hi-fi” or whatever crap they’re trying to sell me. Over it before this damn press conference ever even occurred.

You know that emoji with the side eyes that looks pissed off at the world? That’s me everytime I read another damn thing about Tidal.
