Ok, this is serious question please no insult or cheep shots. Please respect this and give an honest real answer.

Taylor Swift has 10 Grammys and is the only woman to win AotY twice and the 3rd woman to be nominated after winning. Shes also has been nominated four times for RotY no woman has been nominated more times solo (Barbra has been nominated four times as a solo act and once as a duet). She’s been nominated for a Grammy for every album she has put out and each album has sold at least four million copies each. As I’m writing this she has the 2ed most weeks at #1 on the Hot 200 for a woman (behind Whitney Houston by 10 weeks). She’s written every song she’s ever recorded and each album has a different style and musical sound. She’s been applauded by musical greats like James Taylor, Mick Jagger, Madonna, Loretta Lynn, Janis Ian, Stevin Tyler and Dolly Parton.

My question is this, “Why do so many people straight up dislike Taylor so much?” No this is about Taylor Swift the act nothing to do with Taylor Swift the person so please do not say she’s annoying or anything about her personality. She’s reached so many pinnacles in both country and pop music and wrote absolutely incredible songs like “Dear John”, “All Too Well”, “Out Of The Woods”, “Ronan”, “Safe & Sound” and “Treacherous”. She’s constantly berated for her vocals and musical themes but has improved vastly in vocals and one of her best songs to date “Blank Space” is about such criticisms. What could she possibly do to change her critics into fans?

    Again please give intelligent answers.

    Pointless thread.

Every artist has fans and haters. Just because Taylor has all of those things does not mean she isn’t subject to criticism or that she is everyone’s taste. This thread could apply to ANY artist. It’s just impossible to please every person.

She has decent acclaim, she has sold tons of records, has had hit tours, has a slew of industry awards and accolades, etc. That should be enough for her to be “great” to those who like/love her.

And who cares what GG loves or views as a “great artist” (let’s be for real; the thread was made because of Taylor’s so-called “haters” here.)

Because she completely sold out, and sold out to make worse music than what she was making at the time. For me personally there’s just too much of a gap between her and great female artists like Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Christina etc. I also am not a huge fan of her voice and find her to be fake, but each to their own I don’t judge anyone for liking her.

Pop music is not respected in general, Swift really relies on one subject in her songs and she’s not very likeable, that’s why she’s no Adele or Beyoncé regardless to be a great artist.

Well for me, she needs to make more mature music. She makes music that caters to kids and teen girls. At the rate that she is going, she’ll be 40 still singing about some guy that dumped her.

She comes off as very calculating. People tend to see that as being fake.

Swift suffers from Jennifer Lawrence syndrome. Young white girl gets everything everyone else in the business had to put years of work to receive. It’s easy to hate them dismiss them and wish they would somehow jeopardize their career soon.

I agree with Power, it’s not up to her haters to make her a great artist. This could be said about anyone. I don’t get everyone’s obsession with vocals though. Vocals are cool, but they’re not gonna make great music. If you can sing well enough that your auto tune doesn’t make you sound like a complete robot, and you have kick ass lyrics and music, then you’re great. I do hope that stuff like 1989, as good as it was, was a one time thing she did for fun after a bad year. Taylor Swift is an All Too Well artist, not a Bad Blood artist.

She is already considered a great artist by the people in the know. Critics, other musicians, industry people. People who are just posing haters will never give her the credit she deserves because they are childish and obtuse.

Stop it. Taylor has been making the same kids bop music since she first came onto the scene.

Tim McGraw and Teardrops on my Guitar are certainly not Kids Pop.

Also I asked this for personal reasons nothing to do with GD and “Taylor Haters” but just for the average music fan. Who see Taylor as a Fad.

Fans will always seek to maximize the achievements of their favorite artists.
Haters will always seek to minimize the achievements of the artists who they dislike.

There is alot of people who consider Taylor Swift a great artist already and there is others that will never consider her a great musician-artist no matter what she do and will never admit her strengths.

This is very subjective, and it happens to every artist in the world.
