Which of the artists from the current generation (For this purpose those who have been around for no more than 12 years and are actively making music) do you think will have long-term viability and will still be actively making music in another 15 years? Who is going to be the next Mariah, Madonna, Eminem, etc and have long-term careers and who is going to eventually either vanish from the industry, stop having success or will have success at a lesser rate than they are used to?
Selena Gomez seems poised to eventually see her career stall. in a matter of years I expect she’ll be forced to do the reality TV circuit talking about how she USED to be famous.
Katy Perry is somebody I see eventually fading out of popularity all together. She is a trend that I think will eventually fade out.
Nick Jonas I think will also reach a point of saturation where is he no longer able to sell records.
Justin Bieber, if there is any justice he will eventually go the way of Vanilla Ice and fade out.
As for those who I think will continue to work:
Taylor Swift, she seems like somebody who will have a long term future and I think as she ages will become a better songwriter.
Lady Gaga has pretty much proven already that she is built for a long term career as an entertainer and has shown an ability to mature and change her sound.
Ed Sheeran I think will continue to work as a songwriter and will keep a devoted audience.June 10, 2016 at 10:03 pm #1201849454

Taylor and Adele will be around for a long, long time. Adele’s music is timeless and Taylor is constantly changing her sound. They’re both still haven’t reached their peak just yet.June 11, 2016 at 12:18 pm #1201849607

If Adele keeps on releasing albums every five years, she’s not going to last in such a fast-paced world. Yes, 25 sold millions but it hasn’t been the same as her 21 era. In a few years, Adele could be forgotten.
I think the ones with the most longevity would be Taylor Swift and Ed SheeranJune 11, 2016 at 6:25 pm #1201849724
Adele will be in the game as long as she wants… there’s more to music then popping out crap every 1 or 2 yearsJune 11, 2016 at 6:32 pm #1201849726
and I agree Ariana Grande will be forgotten in a few years. I also hope the same fate awaits Carly Rae Jepsen who I find utterly irritating.June 11, 2016 at 7:18 pm #1201849775
Artist that will be around and have a Longevity Career
Nick JonasJune 13, 2016 at 2:54 am #1201850257
Oh please. 25 doesn’t have to be exactly like 21 commercial wise. What kind of logic?
Name five follow-up eras that have even sold half of what their predecessors have. People compared Adele to Norah Jones and Alanis Morrisette, yet Adele’s follow-up era is on the tip of being certified Diamond – something neither Norah nor Alanis had seen ever again. That’s a sign of someone who has built up a following and not just someone riding off success of previous work. Adele can take as long of a break as she wants and will still come back to some type of audience. Adele is eight years strong, while her other British counterparts (Duffy, Leona Lewis, Lily Allen, etc.) aren’t seeing 25 or “Hello”-level success or pop culture ubiquity in this streaming era. It’s not like she has competition. It helps that she has added touring as a component of her career after dodging it in her previous eras. I see Adele having a Celine/Sade like career.June 14, 2016 at 6:40 pm #1201851041
even if she doesn’t, her voice will be remembered as one of the bestJune 14, 2016 at 7:58 pm #1201851152
Will have Longevity
-Lady Gaga (this really depends a lot on her next couple of releases; it’s a make or break for her)
Will Be in Middle (Not forgotten but not that popular)
Will Be Long Forgotten
-IGGY AZEALEA (happening already)June 15, 2016 at 10:13 am #1201851374
If things continue to go as well as they have been going for country singer Dierks Bentley, I can see him staying around longer. Can you believe that he has 13 years in the can already? Time has flown fast! (shaking my head with a smile)
God bless you and Dierks always!!!
Go here to check out my most favorite singer James Otto!

Lady Gaga is already irrelevant.
