Which videos that have won the VMA for Video of the Year do you think are the best and worst?

For me at least, most of the best winners came from the first 10 or 15 years of the awards, when MTV still actually played music videos and the winners reflected orginality, creativity, artistry, or some level of social importance/impact.   Since MTV turned into basically Reality TV Show Network 101, the winners only seem to reflect how popular the artist is.

    Anyway, my opinion:

    WORST
    “Piece of Me” Britney Spears
    “Firework” Katy Perry
    “Without Me” Eminem
“This Notes for You” Neil Young
Anything that wins this year that isn’t “Chandelier”

    BEST
    “Jeremy” Pearl Jam
    “Waterfalls” TLC
    “Virtual Insanity” Jamiroquai
    “Work It” Missy Elliot
    “Bad Romance” Lady Gaga

You can also discuss the best and worst NOMINEES and what videos you think should have won, etc…

    Best: Virtual insanity – Jamiroquai.
    Ray of Light – Madonna.

Worst: Piece of me – Britney Spears.

Yonkers should have won in 2011 instead of Firework.

I wouldn’t say it was the worst but the most ridiculous choice was “We Found Love” over “Somebody That I Used to Know”
And “Wrecking Ball” over “Chandelier” is going to be heart breaker too
I loved the Firework video so I was fine with that but “Rolling in the Deep” had a great video.
I’m still scratching my head at “Mirrors” winning last year. “Thrift Shop” was a very creative music video
Work It was a great win too.

Bjork should be on the best list, but it’s MTV.

    My Picks:

    Best:
Waterfalls-TLC (Scream and Buddy Holly also had cool videos)
    Virtual Insanity-Jamiroquai
    Losing My Religion-R.E.M.
    Jeremy-Pearl Jam
    Work It-Missy Elliott
    Hey Ya-Outkast
    Ray of Light-Madonna
Mirrors-Justin Timberlake (Thrift Shop also had a cool video)
    Money for Nothing-Dire Straits
    Sledgehammer-Peter Gabriel

    Worst:
Right Now-Van Halen (Under the Bridge or Smells Like Teen Spirit should have won)
I Write Sins Not Tragedies-Panic at the Disco (Dani California or Hips Don’t Lie should have won)
    Aerosmith-Cryin’ (Sabotage should have won)

Bye if you think WFL is one of the worst ever. It’s clearly among the best.

I agree Neil Young winning over Madonna and MJ was absolutely bizarre. Not to mention MJ lost VOTY for Thriller over The Cars smh.

If DIL wins it will be undeserving.

“Drunk on Love” is the most boring video ever… If it wins, it’s solely for the fact that it’s Beyonce and she probably paid MTV for it or something…

Oh yeah I also love Umbrella, Single Ladies, and Nothing Compares 2 U. And I don’t think We Found Love was the worst it just was unmemorable compared to the still very memorable “Somebody That I Used to Know”
