^I hope you’re right.November 4, 2011 at 7:08 am #376121
Kanye West with 10 : ROTY (All of the Lights), SOTY (All of the Lights), AOTY (My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy), Pop Group (E.T.), Rap Performance (Otis), Rap / Sung (All of the Lights), Rap Song (All of the Lights), Rap Song (Otis), Rap Album (My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy), Rap Album (Watch the Throne)
I agree. Think it might be Kanye too. Almost anytime he puts a record out (with the exception of 808’s and Heartbreak) he is one of the artist with the highest noms. Adele will prob come in next. I am almost sure she will get nominated in EVERYTHING she submits for. Both him and her are deserving.November 4, 2011 at 7:19 am #376122
I don’t know how it will be with the combined categories, but it’s usually an urban artist who scoops up the most nominations.
Kanye has two albums in contention, so I suppose he could scrape up the most nominations. He will probably double up on Best Rap Album and Rap Song. I’m starting to get iffy about Rap Album, though. I could see them nominating him for only one album and giving the other spot to someone else. I’m actually predicting 6-8 nominations for him.November 4, 2011 at 7:21 am #376123
Kanye obviously. It’ll always be a rap artist most of the time since it’s so many collabos.November 4, 2011 at 8:19 am #376124

Kanye would deserve to get 10 nominations unlike other rap artists who release crap. The Rap field is a given to him and I could imagine two nominations in rap album. He will be snubbed in pop group since its category fraud and its to competitive to even be a filler.
Now to the GF. I know he submitted both albums to AOTY, though did he submit “All of the Lights” to Record & Song? I could see that as a surprise nominee. If he submitted to producer that could be possible…?November 4, 2011 at 10:19 am #376126
I can’t imagine Kanye West getting another 10 nominations. I think he’ll get 6-8 noms, which will still make him the leading or one of the leading nominees. I also see Adele getting 5-7 nominations for second place.
What about Nicki Minaj? She could surprise with a shitload of nominations and be the leading nominee.November 4, 2011 at 10:22 am #376127
why is it always urban artists who get the most nods?November 4, 2011 at 10:24 am #376128
Urban artists have more categories to compete in. Also, a lot of them do so many damn collaborations that they can be nominated 2 or 3 times in the same category.November 4, 2011 at 10:42 am #376129
The most nominations I see Nicki with is 4 nominations. Last year she had a chance to scoop up a few nominations in the weak rap field, but she only managed to get a Rap Group nomination for “My Chick Bad.” Not to mention, her submissions weren’t the best. I don’t even know why people think Nicki will be a big factor at the Grammys this year. It feels like the way people overhyped Drake last year.November 4, 2011 at 11:11 am #376130

Aside from Kanye, who does everyone thinks will get the most nominations? Adele? Lady GaGa? Jason Aldean? Or someone completely from out of left field?November 4, 2011 at 1:12 pm #376132
Kanye is a good guess. However, I don’t think he will be as plastered in the GF as many think. I am banking on him getting an AOTY nod, but I would be shocked if he shows up in ROTY and/or SOTY.
I think we might see Beyonce top the nominees again. Her year has been lackluster, but NARAS does seem to love her. Even if she is shut out of the GF, she could get a Pop nomination (Halo LIVE got in *smh* and Best I Never Had is the biggest hit off 4, I think). Throw in a spatter of obligatory R&B nods (incl. Traditional) and a rap nod and who knows?
Taylor Swift could lead if she represents well in the GF, too. She has more than enough power to get country and GF nominations. She must have submitted something to Pop Solo. She could grab that nomination as well.
I pretty much think it comes down to who pops up in the Pop categories and/or who the BRP endorses in the GF. We all know certain artists are going to hold down their genre categories (i.e. Taylor, Beyonce, and Kanye).
