I’m predicting Sam Smith to be the big winner on Grammy night. Yes I’m predicting him to win ROTY, SOTY, BNA, Pop Solo and Pop Vocal Album. That’s FIVE wins in one night. I don’t see any other artist competing with that number. Am I wrong ? Let’s discuss !

Imo he’s only winning BNA. Stay With Me wasn’t really a stand out this year it came and went. When’s the last time a slow song won RotY? Also I have Chandelier winning SotY.

I currently have Sam Smith winning SOTY, BNA, and Pop Solo, although I think he’s a definite spoiler in ROTY and Pop Album.

Outside of him, Beyonce could win a few awards (potentially AOTY, Urban Cont Album, R&B Performance, R&B Song, and can’t be ruled out as a ROTY / SOTY contender), and there’s always a 3-4 win threat from the genre categories if someone sweeps.  The most likely genre sweeps this year are probably Miranda Lambert, U2, or Eminem.  All three of these artists could potentially make a run for four awards (if Lambert goes for SOTY, U2 and Eminem for AOTY), but I bet all three are relegated to winning genre awards only.

Um, no. “Stay With Me” spent over 20 weeks in the top 10, is still top 10 on streaming and has had a ton of notable covers. It didn’t “come and go.”

“Need You Now” by Lady Antebellum won ROTY in 2011.

But you have several songs that have spent that and longer and left more of an Impact like Happy, All Of Me, Problem, Fancy, All About That Bass, Shake It Off and Dark Horse the last one spent a record amount of weeks on the Hot 100. Sam Smith is severely over rated on this sight. Stay With Me isn’t the best of most successful song commercially or critically this year.

Pharrell and John Legend sent live versions to ROTY and SOTY, so I severely doubt they are even in contention for those categories, sadly.

Songs such as “Fancy,” “Problem,” “All About That Bass” and “Dark Horse” do not stand chances at winning those big Grammys.

Regardless if those songs spent more weeks in the top 10, “Stay With Me” didn’t “come and go.” It was very successful and lasted a good bit of time and many people recognize the song. It doesn’t matter if it’s the most successful song commercially or critically either. “Need You Now” was not either. Neither was “Please Read The Letter,” “Not Ready to Make Nice” nor several other songs that took home big trophies. “Stay With Me” is a well-liked song and stands a chance at taking a couple awards home. It’s not a lock, but it’s not a bust either.

Yes, I expect him to be the big winner of the night.  I wouldn’t be surprised if he swept.

You do know Need You Now is the highest selling country song of all time right? It also was 1) A Country Song not a pop song 2)It was huge on country radio and Sam Smith isn’t a Icon like Alison Kruss, Robert Plant and the Dixie Chicks. All I’m saying is I don’t understand why everyone’s thinking he’s sweeping when we dont even have nominees yet. Stay With Me was not the biggest song of the year to say he’ll win is kinda crazy.

It just seems like awards bait (great voice, simple melody). The equivalent of 12 years a slave for the grammys. Doesn’t mean its good, it just happens.

You cant deny how big of an impact Stay With Me has had. It was the song of the summer everywhere else in the world besides the United States.

I don’t think there will be any big winners this year.

I see Sam Smith and Beyonce winning the most with three.

Sam Smith will get Pop Solo, Pop Album and BNA.

Beyonce will get Urban Contemporary Album, R&B Performane and R&B Song.

I agree, I don’t think there will be any HUGE winners this year. I think there will be a few artists winning a few big awards, but no Adele-like clean-sweep. I’d be shocked if Sam Smith didn’t get nominated, let alone win, BNA. At this point, he’s also a frontrunner for Pop Album in addition to ROTY or SOTY. As of yesterday, In the Lonely Hour has now had 2 top 10 hits with the recent surge of “I’m Not the Only One” to #9 (Go, Sam!) — he’ll definitely receive a handful of nominations in a few weeks, and is the frontrunner for at least a couple wins.

Five wins seems excessive. But I have Sam Smith down for winning four categories (SOTY, BNA, Pop Album, and Pop Solo Performance). If voters really like him, I could see a possible 6/6, but a total sweep of the General Field is something I wouldn’t wish on him at this early stage of his career. We don’t need another Christopher Cross. I’m not totally convinced on ROTY yet.

Sam Smith should not have a problem winning Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best New Artist, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album.

“Stay With Me” didn’t “come and go.”  What are people smoking.
