Taylor Swift is currently up for seven Grammys this year, and she has decent chances in all of them. On the other hand, she also has stiff competition in most of them.

Album of the Year – Kendrick Lamar and Alabama Shakes both have decent chances at taking the trophy.

Record of the Year – Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars seem to be the runaway frontrunner.

Song of the Year – Ed Sheeran could spoil here.

Best Pop Solo Performance – Ed Sheeran is VERY stiff competition.

Best Pop Vocal Album – Taylor is a LOCK, period.

Best Pop Duo/Group Performance – “Uptown Funk” is the runaway favorite.

Best Music Video – “Bad Blood” seems to be the frontrunner here.

So, her only real locks seem to be Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Music Video. She won’t exactly see a Mariah Carey-level shutout, but does anyone think that she won’t be the Grammy darling of the night?

Good question. I find it hard to believe she will sweep. I also don’t feel she’ll “underperform” as she has stiff competition in many categories.

I could see her taking Pop Album, and rightfully so.

Maybe Music Video, as it would be a way for the academy to award both Kendrick and her all at once, as I dont think Bad Blood will take Pop.Duo/Group. Although I would much prefer if it took that award over the Music Video award.

Pop Solo/Record/Song, I believe all to be a toss-up. I really enjoy Blank Space, I’m aware she isnt the strongest vocalist, but the record is very strong.

Album of the Year I don’t see her winning. I predict Chris Stapleton to take that.

I’d be very satisfied as a fan if she took home the following:

Pop Album, Record or Song of the Year (probably more so Song) and Pop Solo.

**Music Video (meh) it would be a nice bonus, but I always find that category to be usesless, and it wouldn’t add any prestige to her night, where as an album award and/or songwriting award would probably give her some form of validation(I can’t think of the appropriate term – but hopefully my point is made)

I don’t think she was ever going to be the Grammy darling of the night. She was going to get a bunch of nominations we knew that, but wins? I don’t think even the biggest fanboy was confident about that. The Pop Field is a sad place to be in if you want to be the darling of the night when you’re not guaranteed wins in the General Field, like Adele or Norah Jones.

I think that there is a huge possibility of her not winning anything to be honest.

Her one lock is Pop Album, but there have been surprises before, just don’t let it be Kelly Clarkson for again voters!. Other than that, look, I absolutely 100% love Blank Space (I’m ashamed to say so) but SOTY? I’ll believe it when I see it. That seems to be the one place where people are too confident about her chances. Then there’s video, that could happen since it was so talked about (for about two weeks, but that’s months/years in today’s video world), so yeah maybe.

Listen, 2-3 Grammys when you’re not a sure thing in the General Field and you don’t have the easy way out of a Country/R&B category with it’s name checking and genre song category is not underperforming. At least you won something.

She already went home empty handed once with the added bonus of an embarrassing gif/meme where you thought you had won AOTY, I don’t think her 2016 Grammys will be as bad, her worst Grammy night is behind her.

I actually think she will get three Grammys, at least.

    Pop Vocal Album
    Music Video
    Song of the Year

I actually had her down for Pop Solo Performance, but everyone seems to think Ed Sheeran will win there. “Thinking Out Loud” does sound like something that would win that category, and it was a huge hit itself. If Ed wins Pop Solo, he may have enough support to take Song of the Year, even though I can see Taylor taking Song of the Year and Ed taking Pop Solo. That’s of course if no one else takes Song of the Year over both.

I have everything else going to someone else.

I am only predicting Taylor Swift to win two awards: Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Music Video.  I would not consider Swift winning two awards as “underperforming.”  She was never expected to win a shitload of Grammys.  She was just expected to be heavily nominated.

Don’t forget about Chris Stapleton in Album of the Year.

She’ll win at least a couple but I think she’ll take home 4. SotY, Pop Solo, Pop Album and Music Video.

I don’t think winning two awards is “underperforming” by any stretch of the imagination.

That said, I expect Swift to take home Song of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album.  I think she has a chance in Music Video (predicting Kendrick) and Pop Solo (predicting The Weeknd).

The definition of “underperform” is to perform less well than expected. If pundits and fans are predicting 4-5 wins and she ends up winning “only” two, then it would be “underperforming.” It’s just like how Eminem being predicted to win several awards in 2011, but only won two in the rap field. There were a few articles that said he performed less well than expected. I’m predicting Taylor dominating pundit predictions when they come out, but the actual results will be different.

LOL nobody thought Taylor would sweep. I hate discussing Taylor on here since it seems everybody has biased hatred for her. I see Taylor winning pop vocal album, SOTY, music video, and pop solo performance. She is almost guaranteed the first 3 whether people like it or not. I really do believe Blank Space will win SOTY. Thats not underperforming in any sense of the word.

Hopefully, she will be left empty-handed again, but sadly I guess she’s winning BPVA, Music Video will go to Alright, “Bad Blood” is the most expensive and pointless video of her entire career, and you want that to win a grammy LMAO. She isn’t winning sh*t in the GF. I hope Ed Sheeran finally will win his first grammy.

Rinolo. you have just proved how incredibly biased you are with that post. The fact that you said “Luckily, she will be left empty handed again” and that you “hope Ed sheeran wins his first grammy” proves you are biased in your opinion. See, I am not some teenie as many on here like to believe because I dont hate Taylor. I am actually a guy who is 55+ years old and have seen A LOT of grammys. Likely more that you will ever see. When I predict winners, I dont come in with favorites or people I dont like as it affects my judgement. I simply predict who is most likely to win thinking about the people who actually vote for these awards. I have been doing this for years, its just recently that I joined this site.

I dont see “Alright” winning best music video because that award usually goes to big hits. Did I say “Bad Blood” deserves to win?! NO, I said that it likely will win. Also, Taylor Swifts “Blank Space” is a serious contender for SOTY. Most people on here would agree with me. It has Max Martin who helped write it which is a sign plus it can be argued as one of the biggest songs of this past year. Could Ed Sheeran win? Yes, but if I was betting cash on who wins SOTY. I would choose “Blank Space” over “TOL”

    LOL

Oh c’mon! You are not 55+ years old! I mean, why would you blast like that at rinolo. He just gave his opinion. It wasn’t directed to you.

Look, I am 26 and I love Taylor Swift. I think she’s a terrific songwriter. But I can understand why people would hate her. She is overexposed by the media. Too much attention towards her relationships, her lawsuits, money, etc.

Anyways, the point is that you sound more like a millenial and ferocious fan of Taylor Swift than a guy who’s watched over 45 editions of the GRAMMY Awards.

I think the prediction here is that rinolo will not live past his 45th grammys ! LOL

    Cheers

In other words. My predictions for Taylor (at the moment, December 17) are

    YES:
Pop Vocal Album: Though, I agree with those who see Kelly Clarkson as her biggest rival
Pop Solo Performance: This category seem to be going for the biggest hit among the nominees)
Best Music Video: Because the director, Joseph Khan, is a former winner here.

    MAYBE:
Song of the Year: Taylor has won three songwriter’s awards. But “Alright” and “Thinking Out Loud” have strong chances.

    NO
Record of the Year: Is either Uptown Funk or The Weeknd.
Pop Duo/Group: Again, Uptown Funk is the most likely choice here. The last time a ‘rap/sung’ collabo won was 10 years ago: Gorillaz and De La Soul
