I was looking at the members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and there are so few women.   Who are some women you think are overdue or overlooked?    One thought for me was Cyndi Lauper.   She is an icon of the 80’s and while her career since then has not been filled with hits she does have staying power and was back in the spotlight with her Tony win for Kinky Boots (I realize that is broadway and not Rock).    Some of her hits are classics:

Girls Just Want to Have Fun
    Time After Time
    True Colors
    Change of Heart
    She Bop
    All Through the Night

Heck, Magic! even does a cover of Girls Just Want to Have Fun on their tour with Maroon 5.

Dolly Parton should probably be there by now… I know she’s technically “country”, but hell they have a lot of inductees who aren’t strictly rock… and Dolly is about as iconic a musician as it gets.

Bonnie Raitt should probably get in soon.   Lastly, she may be as revered as her peers, but I’d love to see Sheryl Crow inducted soon.

Janet Jackson, Whitney Houston, Patti LaBelle, CHER, Dionne Warwick, Chaka Khan, Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige, and Bonnie Raitt deserve to be inducted.

The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame is just a name. Any artist can
be inducted. Just like the term “rock” pretty much just means “music” to most
people. And I completely agree that women are not represented equally here. But
isn’t that the case in many situations still in 2015?

And I have been lucky enough to see Cyndi Lauper twice and
she was amazing both times. The pipes on that woman!

Bonnie Raitt was inducted back in 2000.

Here’s my list of women that SHOULD be inducted:

    Janet Jackson
    Whitney Houston
    Chaka Khan
    Nina Simone
    Cher
    Cyndi Lauper
    Patti LaBelle
    Carly Simon
    Ella Fitzgerald
    Dolly Parton
    Loretta Lynn
